Delightful chefs aperitivo while making Thanksgiving dinner. White peach, lemon zest, hint of vanilla. A non-buttery chardonnay 👍 — 4 years ago
Not the most refined expression of To Kalon but still very nice and good value. After a two hour decant had some nice secondary flavor development. Well balanced and enjoyable. — 7 years ago
This is why I buy burgundy - wow. So happy to find 6 more w/solid provenance after opening this bottle. PNP and it still outdid the Faiveley with a 3 hour decant. Faiveley was also fantastic. — 3 years ago
Tastes like our honeymoon. I miss Napa! — 5 years ago
Nose has plum preserves, ripe raspberry, mahogany shavings, crushed dark chocolate bar, fresh sage, over-ripe cherry, mashed mulberry, dried brown bread and mild stemmy notes.
Palate has blackberry/plum jam, dried blueberry, ripe black currant, (light) baking spice, wet cedar shavings, dehydrated cranberry, dried raspberry, dry potting soil and dark chocolate (high cacao content). Tannins are mild, but subtle, finish is long and satisfying.
Decanted 3h, needs another 3-5h. Future bottles may be 2023-28 without concern. Purchased January 2006.
This Mt. Veeder vineyard was beleived a victim of the 2017 CA Wine Country fires; I'm not fully sure if the damage was limited to just buildings or vines may have also suffered losses.
24 Hour Update: This bottle has really accelerated! Nose is mostly melted dark chocolate and plum, damn! Palate is so silky smooth, cedar still notable, blackberry and dried raspberry has become prominent. Minimal tannins remain this evening. Stunning bottle! — 5 years ago
Intense ripe fruit and powerful structure! — 7 years ago
Nice wine that is going to take 8 years in bottle to integrate the fruits and minerality. The dark & mid red fruits show nicely but it still has astringent flavors and mineral bite. Photos of; their tasting room, outside fountain and Napa bud break, just not vine bud break. — 7 years ago
Nice golden color, but not too much so. Heavy in the glass. Amazing complex, fruit forward nose. Notes of apricot, lemon, gravel and cardamom spice. Soft but fine acidity in the mouth with lots of fruit still powering a nice, long finish. 3rd of 3 btls acquired about 5 yrs ago via auction from a consignor known to have a cold cellar and great provenance. This was the best of the 3. Love the old ES foil. One of those great white burg experiences that only white burg can give. — 8 years ago
Birthday wine!!! Best example of 82 margaux I’ve tasted. Perfectly stored. Deep and dark mahogany color with minimal bricking. Absolutely beautiful nose of red currant, cassis, dried rose petals, pencil shavings, fresh green tobacco and cedar. Some noticeable green character and earthiness that is definitely ‘margaux’. We could not believe how young this still is. Provenance was perfect. Came out of an unbroken owc. Elegant yet powerful at the same time. Could easily last another 20 years yet so beautiful on its (and my) 39th bday. — 4 years ago
Perfect timing on this one. Want more. Way too easy to drink and a little dangerous. Nice layers and complex wine. Diamond mountain never disappoints. — 5 years ago
High quality throughout, the wine is showing both provenance, and structure with developing complexity in the glass and a long balanced finish. Drinks well, and there’s no need to wait, even though it will continue to develop complexity for another five years or so. — 7 years ago
Lots of fruit and minerals — 7 years ago
