A softened ruby color. Beautiful balance, everything in harmony. Wet earth, raspberry, cinnamon, a whiff of truffle, intoxicating nose. So much ripe, fresh red fruit on the palate. Such soft tannins, damson plum, a mineral streak running through. Drinking a 15 year old wine for 15th anniversary of diabetes. This is splendid in the moment — 9 years ago
We say goodbye to Switzerland - loved it's fantastic scenery and peaceful people, but the wine scene was a challenge. Moving on to Tuscany...now we're talking! This Oreno is well known but in a great vintage like '13 it was better than I remembered. Amazingly pure but rich fruit notes of plum, dark cherry, and maybe a bit of rhubarb. Leather in spades with some chocolate. Silky tannins and a beautifully long finish. 50% Merlot, with Cab and PV filling out the blend. A super-duper Tuscan and start to a great wine week.

2011: all varieties. Meaty, lavender, garden herbs, smoky, but still very vibrant red fruit. Lovely vibrancy of red fruit and all Mouvedre and Grenache aromatics. Sweet fruit, juicy acidity, hot indian spice and liquorice. Plum, cherry, spiced. Quite ready now. — 11 years ago
Black berries, plum, light, chocolate, spicy finish. — 12 years ago

Likely the best Artemis Stag's Leap has ever made. Ripe blackberries, boysenberries, black plum, cinnamon, dark chocolate, vanilla toasted oak and caramel finish. It's not as fresh as we've had at the winery. Starting to close down in the bottle. This entry level Stag's Leap is better at this young stage than most of their 2011's. At $40, an extreme value. Can't wait to try it again in 8-10 years! — 11 years ago

Open for about a hour. Nose of plum, tobacco, eucalyptus, graphite, cedar, and marscapone. Balckberry and red currant give a nod to the Cabernet dominate blend, which finishes with mouth coating tannin and persistence. Drink or hold. — 8 years ago
