Plum Creek

Château Lilian Ladouys

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Open for about a hour. Nose of plum, tobacco, eucalyptus, graphite, cedar, and marscapone. Balckberry and red currant give a nod to the Cabernet dominate blend, which finishes with mouth coating tannin and persistence. Drink or hold. — 8 years ago

R. López de Heredia

Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2002

A softened ruby color. Beautiful balance, everything in harmony. Wet earth, raspberry, cinnamon, a whiff of truffle, intoxicating nose. So much ripe, fresh red fruit on the palate. Such soft tannins, damson plum, a mineral streak running through. Drinking a 15 year old wine for 15th anniversary of diabetes. This is splendid in the moment — 9 years ago

Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2004

This was rustic with plum and black cherry. Bi noticed a slight corkiness. Not sure if it was slightly corked or part of the flavor profile. Well integrated tannins. — 11 years ago

Most likely corked a bit. I've had 1997 a few years back with no signs of being corked.

Château Pape Clément

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1970

Love this vintage of Pape Clement from a pristine btl showing the classic 70 Graves with an intoxicating nose of black plum fruits, cigar ash, mineral, cedar, iron, leather & dried herbs. — 8 years ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2013

We say goodbye to Switzerland - loved it's fantastic scenery and peaceful people, but the wine scene was a challenge. Moving on to Tuscany...now we're talking! This Oreno is well known but in a great vintage like '13 it was better than I remembered. Amazingly pure but rich fruit notes of plum, dark cherry, and maybe a bit of rhubarb. Leather in spades with some chocolate. Silky tannins and a beautifully long finish. 50% Merlot, with Cab and PV filling out the blend. A super-duper Tuscan and start to a great wine week.

2011: all varieties. Meaty, lavender, garden herbs, smoky, but still very vibrant red fruit. Lovely vibrancy of red fruit and all Mouvedre and Grenache aromatics. Sweet fruit, juicy acidity, hot indian spice and liquorice. Plum, cherry, spiced. Quite ready now. — 11 years ago

Marchesi Antinori

Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Dusty plum on the nose. Plum , blackberry, mint mid-palate. Decanted 30 min, but would do an hour+ in retrospect. Really complex wine. That got much better over time! — 9 years ago

Have noticed the value wines in the states are marked up much more than the nicer bottles. This kind of fell in the middle, so we went for it!

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Somm David T
9.3

Likely the best Artemis Stag's Leap has ever made. Ripe blackberries, boysenberries, black plum, cinnamon, dark chocolate, vanilla toasted oak and caramel finish. It's not as fresh as we've had at the winery. Starting to close down in the bottle. This entry level Stag's Leap is better at this young stage than most of their 2011's. At $40, an extreme value. Can't wait to try it again in 8-10 years! — 11 years ago
