This is THE Scotch I measure all others against. Amazingly complex. Strong peaty finish, heavily medicinal on the tongue, salty seaweed !!! Recommend drinking best with just a few drops of water !! Be sure to enjoy the nose before tasting. — 10 years ago
Candied nuts, some caramel, plenty of orange and other citrus zest on the nose. Orange Crush soda, immediately up front, but definitely some underlying barrel spice and other associated flavor. — 10 years ago
Balvenie Triple Cask 12 year. Nose is much more like a bourbon. Very sweet, with fruit, honey, vanilla., thick caramel. Peat really shows up in taste, with fruit and vanilla, followed by a long sherry finish. This is fantastic, but a bit too harsh. I'd love to try a longer aged version. — 11 years ago

Ardbeg Uigeadail Whisky. Nose is sweet, with fruit, peat, and vanilla extract. Smokiness comes out in taste, and pettiness becomes more prominent. Still very little peat for an Islay malt. Long lasting with great fruity finish. Outstanding.
Cigar is Montecristo Espada Toro. Beautiful draw. Flavor in the first third is campfire wood, chocolate, burnt coffee. Fantastic. 9.3 — 11 years ago

Good smokey peat, sea salt and seaweed on the nose, sits heavy on the palate, which is not necessarily a bad thing with northern Scotland scotches. — 11 years ago
Pure gold colour, citrus nose changing to butterscotch. Very smooth start with malt and more butterscotch. Lingering burn and beautiful, still sweet finish. Great after dinner dram. Exceptional value. — 12 years ago
Buttery nose. — 13 years ago
Far caramel color. Nose is superb, with chocolate, fruit like berries and dates, wood note, fermented grains and quite smooth. Taste of nose cream dark chocolate, cranberries, hot spice, caramel, lemon peel, and powerful burn on the tongue and throat. A slight hint of diluteness in the flavors. A distinctive whisky with amazing flavors of chocolate and berries note. Enjoy her uncut strength also. — 9 years ago
Cane sugar sweetness and heat on the nose, light, dry, sea spray taffy body. — 10 years ago
Auburn color. Rich aromas of honeycomb, dried cherries, menthol, figs, and sweet marmalade. Oily mouthfeel, ever so slightly hot on the tongue, dry tannins. Palate mimics the nose, with additional maraschino cherries, plum, malted barley, and freshly baked sponge cake. Heavy body, medium ++ finish. One of the nicest sherry finished single malts I've had! — 10 years ago
Nose like Balkan sobrani tobacco. Light color and smooth delivery. A great Islay scotch for new drinkers. Lightly peated. — 11 years ago
Whisky throughout- thick consistency with Scotch notes on the nose, start, and in the middle- only at the end do you know you're drinking a wine.. Finishes with a touch of licorice. 92 points, primarily for its "F*** you, I'm here" style. — 11 years ago
Nose: dark dried fruits a la plums, raisins, and dark cherries, pungent oloroso sherry molasses-esque sweetness, spiced honey and toasted caramel. Quite sharp at the cask strength 60.1%. A bit of water cuts the numbing sharpness, and brings out the dark fruit and honey elements as well as the musty (in a good way) oloroso sherry notes. A very distinct orange ginger coffee cake aroma emerged with the addition of water as well.
Mouthfeel/body: very full and silky, viscous. Good tingle at cask strength. Not quite as viscous after the addition of water (obviously), but maintains its body and silky character.
Palate: More dark cherries, raisins, spiced dried fruit, cinnamon, more pungent molasses oloroso notes. A bit of water cuts the numbing sharpness of the cask strength alcohol volume and opens up the dark dried fruits notes and pungent sherry notes, as well as more spice.
Conclusion: Great whisky with plenty complexity and character for the price. Tastes a bit young and spirit-y at cask strength but since I typically cut it with a tiny splash of water, this hasn't been much of an issue. — 11 years ago
Vanilla on the nose, good burn with a little numbness on the end. Caramel finish. Delicious. — 11 years ago
Golden colour.
Honey and medicine nose, smoky peat develops after a few minutes.
Sweet fruit then burn and a long smoky finish, needs a few drops of water.

This is from one of 39 bottles that came from a barrel of Scotch bottled by Bruichladdich under the Port Charlotte label. It was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2009, with a 7 year age statement. It's sweet bacon on the nose and spicy, smokey maple candy on the palette. — 13 years ago
Deep amber color showing her double cask feature. Nose of sweet apple cider, ester, a bit oak and cedar, smooth, and warm. Taste of nice peaty note, with spice coming next. Dried fruit like figs shows up deep on the rim and back of the tongue. Toffee and brown sugar like scarf wrap the tongue with softness. Aftertaste of dried fruit and baked apple. A 16 year old with smoothness and complexity of > 20 year old. — 9 years ago
Edgy Japanese scotch whisky with a nose that evokes bourbon (corn) instead of grain. Good balance and depth of flavor on the palate with a long clean finish. Yum. — 10 years ago
Jee wiz this is good. A delicious highlands single malt aged in 6 different casks; wine, madeira, sherry, marsala, Kentucky bourbon, and port casks. What does that crazy concoction produce? A ridiculously rich, fruitful, smooth delight in a glass. There is such a complex craze to the nose, one of vanilla cool whip, tropical fruits similar to the nose in a Sauternes, melted dark chocolate, malt, and cedarwood. Then comes the pallet, a wonderful marriage of chocolate covered orange cream, spices, malt, sea salt caramel, and ripe papaya, finishing in a playful white pepper and last second, faint memory of oak lace.
That was exhausting. I'm going to go ahead and finish this complementary glass, and savor these last few moments. This is the definition of comfort in a bottle. — 10 years ago
Full bodied whisky with a very pronounced nose of dried fruit, barley, and grapes (no surprise there really!) The palate follows the nose with an added extra of toffee notes. A drop of water reveals more honeyed flavours with a finish of grape and vanilla. — 11 years ago
Wood on the nose. Butterscotch on the palate and, after chewing for 10 or 15 seconds, mature parmigiano cheese. Very surprising. — 11 years ago
Small amount of peat with a great nose and finish. Really nice, smooth scotch — 11 years ago
A big sherried single malt. Lots of lovely brown sugar notes on the nose, and good spice and dried fruits on the palate. Needs a generous serve of water to open up! — 12 years ago
Toasty dark gold.
Unmistakeable smoky bushfire nose with some underlying sweetness.
Mouth filling, rich warm spirit with incredibly long dry smoky finish, lasting minutes with mild burn.
