Petit Verdot 2016

Matar by Pelter Petit Verdot 2016, Israel

#kosherWineSunday

Inky in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose with blue and black fruits, light oak, tobacco, coffee, metals and spices.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, crushed peppercorn, espresso, spices, herbs, light earth and black tea.

Short tangy finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries.

This 7 year old Petit Verdot from Israel is still drinking nicely. Rich and tangy with a soft mouthfeel. Spicy with nice complexity.

Showing black fruits on the mid palate, and very tangy on the finish.
Interesting.

Intense, and better with food. Will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

100% Petit Verdot grapes from the Jerusalem Mountains were aged for 18 months in French Oak barrels. Kosher.

14.3% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Very nice nose of black currants, blueberries, sweet cherries, cedar, vanilla, licorice, spices, black pepper, dried figs, light raisins, vinaigrette, earth, alcohol and graphite.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, black currants, cherries, oak, spices, earth, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, coke, coffee and black pepper.

Medium in length on the finish with soft tannins and spices.

This is a very nice Petit Verdot from Israel. A tasty wine with a great mouthfeel. Spicy with nice complexity and well balanced.

Good by itself as a sipping wine.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up.

This four-year-old could use two to three years in the bottle to mature properly and show more complexity.

I paired it with cheeses and crackers.

T Selection Shiraz 2014

Damp leather and dust on nose. Classic syrah open with bright dark fruit, a touch more oak than I like and almost refined tannins. Nice and long but finish gets a bit harsh. Would be hard to tell it's not from France. Thank you Yuval Barak — 6 years ago

A tasty well balanced fruit forward wine. A bit pricy at about $25 here in Israel but enjoyed it — 6 years ago
