Oh dang I love Dutcher. Take all your dried cherries, raisins and blueberries and stuff them in an oak vat. Then soak into the acid and alcohol. Tannins medium. The Pavilion Rouge de Margaux 1998 was a stacked little powerhouse of a wine. Great color, here too a it had a deep ruby robe. A very solid effort here that held its own adding it's Margaux-ness to the flight with some added oomph and pop from some firmer than expected tannin, offset by rich and perfumed dark red fruits, smoke, toast and subtle spice. — 9 years ago

Oreno, takes its name from the river crossing the estate where the farmhouse is found. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 mos in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Big ripe berry fruit aromas with sweet spice notes. On the palate rich blackberry & cherry flavors with cacao, tobacco, oak & flinty tones. Firm big tannins needing time showing great aging potential, lingering ending with succulent earthy mineral character. ‘15 much better. Tasting Sample! — 7 years ago

2015 vintage. Red blend of 25% Syrah, 25% Zinfandel, 34% Carignan, 8% Grenache and 8% petit Verdot. Deep ruby color. On the nose, blueberry, vanilla and currants. Smells like creme brûlée. On the palate, very light with hints of blueberry, blackberry, vanilla and oak. A very nice blend. — 8 years ago

The Osteiner grape is a German grape variety created from crossing of Riesling and Silvaner. Despite its German roots, Rippon is perhaps the most notable producer of this variety. Nose of lemon, lime, ripe melon and white fresh florals. On the palate, fresh, clean, round and brilliant. Beautiful acidity, lemon, lime, melon, stone fruits, pear, fruit blossoms and citrus peel.
