1998 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux - Classic aromatics of horse and stable with lead pencil, black cherry and underlying hints of oak and spice. Fresh on the palate with smooth chalky tannins, med acid, with elegant and sexy expressions of dusty black cherry and charred meat. This is delicious. Decant, sip and let breathe for two hours and drink now or hold for it for another 15 years and wait for the coffee and toffee notes.

The Pavilion Rouge de Margaux 1998 was a stacked little powerhouse of a wine. Great color, here too a it had a deep ruby robe. A very solid effort here that held its own adding it's Margaux-ness to the flight with some added oomph and pop from some firmer than expected tannin, offset by rich and perfumed dark red fruits, smoke, toast and subtle spice.

Beautiful wine. Smooth and balanced. Light red and thin color but drank well. Opened for papa’s 90th! All enjoyed and fun to share on a special occasion like dad’s birthday!

優しいインクの華やかな香り。口に入れた時の滑らかさ、バランスのとれたエレガントな舌触り。鳩とのマリアージュ、最高でした。
A gorgeous scent of gentle ink. Smoothness when put in the mouth, balanced and elegant texture. Marriage with a pigeon pie wrap was awesome.

Nice but its finish was a bit weak. Certainly didn't feel it was worth the price compares to some of the other wines that we tasted.

Nice, but not as sensory satisfying as the companion Napa Valley Cabernet, was the '98 Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux Bordeaux Blend. Pleasant aromas of sweet dark fruit and licorice are evident in this medium-bodied wine. The palate was similarly flavored, but with nothing really exciting going on before the modest finish. Decent for a second label.
