Fragrant strawberries on the nose, rich red fruit combined with fresh minerals on the palate, lightly spiced, dry, with a medium finish. Firm and clean, overall an excellent blend of Malbecs from neighbouring areas. — 6 years ago

2006 Vintage. Large and in charge. This wine is very showy offering a nose of nutmeg, sage, black cherry, black licorice, cedar, & fall leaves. Big Wine! Black cherry, rhubarb, raspberry, black berry, cassis, blueberry and dark chocolate. Great purity for being this powerful. Finish is long and fine tuned. — 11 years ago

There really is something about island wines. We seem to have an affinity to them all—Madeira, Corsica, Sicily...and here we with are with Canary sack. Red, actually, with terrific poise, balance, and expression of terroir. Double decanted and enjoyed on the second day. Funky nose, with some sweet fruit mixed in. Peppery palate, wet stone, easy fruit, and great acidity. Another winner. — 7 years ago

Luscious steeped blackberries, marionberries, and dusky Italian plums lie well beneath lighter, more enigmatic aromas of violets, dust, and dark chocolate shavings. Seed's 2014 Paraje Altamira Malbec is mulberry-hued at the rim and deliciously fresh. The nose echoes the palate, with saturating black fruit at the core, neatly hemmed in by mouth-coating, ripe tannins. It's a subtle, elegant Malbec—one that gently wends its way to a slightly spicy, herbaceous close of green peppercorn, dried rosemary, bay leaf. — 10 years ago

A sister property of the more well-known Tinto Pesquera, this small production 100% Tempranillo is a stunner. Captivating aromas of black tea leaf, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, Chinese herbal tea, vanilla, and a bit barnyard infuse the core of ripe black fruits. The palate is vibrant and smooth with silky but still a bit firm tannins, with fig-like sweet undertone, leading to a long, spicy finish... did I mentioned the nose? So deep, warm, and complex! A gem. — 8 years ago

Finca Viñoa is a blend of Treixadura (90%), Godello (3%), Albariño (5%) and Loureiro (2%). The colour is golden yellow, perhaps also because it has aged. On the palate it is however lively and fresh, with a complex edge. A bold wine with white ripe fruits, offering peach, mango and some herbs. Muy buen! — 5 years ago
