I can smell the wind, the sun, the stone buildings of Spain in this well made of straightforward Rioja. This 2006 is just coming into it’s given that it may have been fruit forward in its early life. I prefer the crianza from this same wine maker, the reserva goes down enjoyably easy. — 6 years ago
Inky ruby color. Ripe dark berries, singed plum, candied licorice and woodsmoke on the deeply perfumed nose. Made in a weighty, ripe style, offering bitter cherry, cassis and fruitcake flavors that are energized by a late jolt of spiciness. Broad, chewy and smoky on the clinging finish, which features mounting tannins and impressively persistent dark fruit liqueur character. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, April 2019) — 7 years ago
Fruit forward--cherries and red plum, faint spicines or note of cacao. Silky palate, long finish.

Nice smooth blend perfect for winding down. — 8 years ago
Cor intensa mas não vibrante. Corpo médio. Aroma de frutas e um pouco de álcool. O sabor é de vinho maduro e com amadeirado bem evidente. — 5 years ago
Dark berries and vanilla scented, with bold ripe berries with the right amount of oak and tannin, long finish. Overall very easy and pleasant to drink. — 6 years ago

Drinks like aged Rioja with a slightly more meaty palate. Gritty tannin with mature notes of licorice and leather. Cool wine. — 7 years ago

Buying at the budget end while travelling is like throwing dice, but this Rioja Reserva (1 year in oak, 2 in bottle) delivered nicely at around 11€. Balanced, black/raspberry fruited, earthy, bit of spice, leather, gravelly tannin. If I find another bottle I’ll buy it! Ronda, Spain — 7 years ago
Really enjoying this wine. Very drinkable. Don’t know anything about Monastrell but would definitely drink more. For a $15 wine, this is great QPR! Drink this all day! — 7 years ago

Nicely made and exuding character. Nose has bright, deep plummy fruit, along with nice, fragrant spice and a wisp of smoke. Mouthfilling, pure fruit on the palate, with a light touch, finish turns savory and shows lots of stony minerality. Nice acids and a bit of soft, chalky tannin comes out at the end. Terrific value. — 5 years ago
