Golden & green apple, braised pear, overripe pineapple, lemon, lime juice, nougat, some apple cider, vanillin, yeast, bread dough & crust, sea fossils, grey volcanics, limestone, white spice, gentle, powdery chalkiness, micro oxygenation, excellent with spring flowers, yellow flowers & withering white lilies. Excellent acidity. The finish is rush, smartly balanced, elegant and persistent. — 6 years ago
This was a gift from a friend to be paired with Italian cuisine so we paired it with ziti. It has been years since I have tried this wine and it has only gotten better. Delightfully fruit forward offering structure and balance. Went beautifully with our meal. Will revisit this one! — 7 years ago

Tasted from magnum.
Ruby color with tawny hue showing the age. First nose has a slight touch of iron. Fruit is ripe and sweet. Vegetable scent of tomato stems suggesting presence of Cabernet Sauvignon. Sandy tannins of Sangiovese. Amazing how bottle aging makes the wine so smooth and satin.
Mostly tertiary aromas, but very well holding the age and could last for at least 5 more years without any signs of decline
Elegant expression of famous Tignanello.
1981 was outshadowed by great 1982. It was 10th anniversary vintage and is considered a very fine one.

Caymus, especially the last few vintages, are polarizing, I know. However, my wife claims this is her favorite wine. As you can imagine, this anniversary vintage is difficult to find, but my buddy @Mike R came through BIG when I told him I was searching for my bride. He graciously sent 3 one liters in exchange for some recommendations of my own. Needless to say, in Mike's own words, my wife is smiling huge! Many thanks to you, Mike! Our family opened this up at my wife's request as we put together the finishing touches for our trip out to Napa in 2 weeks.

One word: reliable. Actually, one other word as well: affordable. This blend from the Antinoris, after decanting, showed sour cherry, plum, and ollalieberry. Our meal is steak and heavy pasta, (with ollalieberry pie for dessert!), and this Tuscan blend complements the food, but doesn't overpower it. An Italian workhorse. — 9 years ago
