Horizontal tasting at home. Man U West Ham.
Sweet, honey nose. Deep orange. Medium body. Lively.
“Taking its name from the Slovenian word for "fences" the Skerk 2017 Ograde draws its fruit from hills that lie along the old Iron Curtain, roughly 230 meters in altitude. A blend of Vitovska, Malvasia, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, this is an outright orange wine that shines in the glass with copper and amber intensity. It delivers a unique bouquet with elements of candied fruit and caramel, alongside softer shadings of beeswax, apricot confit and even a distant touch of crushed stone, button mushroom and rosemary essence. In all, this hot-vintage rendition certainly shows a sweeter, voluptuous mouthfeel and phenolic padding that is extra rich. There is some dusty, tannic dryness on the close.” RP94, 2017 — 2 years ago

Delicious dessert wine, very sweet & yummy! — 9 years ago
Half-bottle. The wine was medium amber in colour and offered orange peel, apple, honeycomb, caramel, smoke, spices, sherry and a mouldy note on the nose. On the palate the wine showed orange, peach, apple, cane sugar, caramel, smoke, spices, creamy honey, some coffee, a hint of chocolate, sherry, mild black tea and a mouldy note, paired with medium-plus acidity, a creamy honey mouthfeel and very good length. Judged by this half-bottle the wine has just passed its plateau and started its slow journey on the downward slope. A good, medium-bodied Sauternes with lots of botrytis character. Drink now. 89 — 10 years ago
A fascinating bottle. As other reviewers note, hard to tell just what you're smelling here, but definitely apricot/orange and acetone (in a good way). Super dry. Savory - not bright or refreshing - on the palate. Good match for fin fish. — 9 months ago
My second favorite after Ruinart. Lovely fine bubbles exuding citrus, orange marmalade, and just baked brioche. Delicious for brunch and Sunday football. — 4 years ago

Delicious dessert wine, I love this chateau and the 2006 vintage is lovely and demonstrates the elegance of Sauternes, deep gold color, enchanting nose of: key lime ,marmalade mandarin , orange peal, minerals, dried apricot, honey, canned peach, honeydew melon, citrus blossom, and honeysuckle, full body, creamy texture and lovely sweetness balanced by pleasant acidity and delightful sweet nectar finish. My score 91, drink in small format to 2023 , normal format to 2030 — 5 years ago
Dried lemon rinds. Grapefruit, orange, honey and potpourri. The palate is lemon rind and pith. Orange zest. Saline and hints of honey. Reminds me of a fino sherry, but with more moderate acidity. Long finish. — 8 years ago
An orange wine for beginners. Light, fresh, nice. Some VA and oxidative notes, but in a way that lifts the green herbs and stone fruits. Playful acidity with a slight spritz. Pear, apricot and orange skin (and blossom) flavours, with a nicely grippy finish. Good stuff. — 9 years ago
Orange Pinot Grigio. It's amazing. — 10 years ago
Top 3 orange. Lemon . Orange peel, tannins — 9 months ago
Golden Lemon colour . Rich nose , vanilla lemon tart , toasted nuts, touch of butter . Persistent and rich , ripe lemon , candied peel, orange rind , yellow fruit , quite creamy . Good acidity, lovely balance , rich though still mineral on the finish, structured. From now , though absolutely no rush , probably even better in 5 - 8 years, will last another 10 years. — 10 months ago
2020. Light and sour and fun, peachy in color with slight grapefruitiness, not too sweet, acidity is well-balanced — 2 years ago
Medium deep pink moving toward reddish orange. Citrus melange aroma... orange, blood orange, sour key lime and pink grapefruit. Powerful weight on the palate but round and creamy in texture. The finish is awesome—long, sweet, savory, lasting almost a minute... with just the slightest hint of funky, cheesy forest-floor. Perfect foil for fresh broiled salmon with grilled broccoli and a Dijon cream sauce. So very glad I kept this wine so long before popping... far from over the hill.. could see enjoying the wine at 25 years. What a wonderful pink wine! — 3 years ago
Wow. Orange wine! — 5 years ago
Peach lemonade in the glass. A touch cloudy and gray, but delicate looks. Slightly astringent and hot on the nose. Nectarine pit, cloudberry, and a touch of acetone on the tongue. Almost orange wine like spices and spark. Surprising and lovely. Abso-frickin-ideal for pairing with briny seafood as well as something richer like a Malaysian honey BBQ chicken with mango salsa. — 5 years ago
Dry, grassy, orange. Weird and delicious. — 7 years ago
funky earthy orange wine from the intimidating 7'1ft biodynamic producer Josko Gravner, excellent with food, notes of hazelnuts, orange peel, fresh peach, forest floor — 7 years ago

Last bottle of my 2018 SC.
Followed over two days. Juicy, ripe and balanced. Astounding value at $30. Haven’t found the signature TRB blood orange profile in these RM SCs, but that’s a small nitpick. Loads of red and black berry fruit upfront, boysenberry, red currant and dark florals. Mid palate was much better on day two as it bulked up and showed the nervy side of SC Pinot. It has a high toned/elegant profile while retaining weight. Stylistically it sits in between RRV and cool climate SC. Banging value, as always. Drink now or in the next 3-5yrs. — 9 months ago
