Poker night with the guys. It’s not quite the same as the real thing, but it’s the best we got right now.
The musk of soil. A sort of fresh sea vitality.
Nice medium body, fresh carbonation. Complex notes of lemon rind, grapefruit, mint, and guava. I can’t decide if the rice vinegar kick at the end is good or eh. — 5 years ago
The nose reveals; sweet vanillin, ripe, blackberries, dark cherries, floral blueberries, creamy, blackberries & black plum skin. Black licorice notes, granitic soils, light tobacco leaf, dry stone, light fresh herb notes, dry brush, soft leather with fresh red/blue and violet flowers.
The entry is ripe and juicy and evolves into big, dry, powdery tannins with deep, dark spice that sets on the palate with heat. Ripe, blackberries, dark cherries, floral blueberries, creamy, blackberries, black & plum skin. Black licorice notes, vanillin, granitic soils, light tobacco leaf, dry stone, light fresh herb notes, dry brush, soft leather with fresh red/blue and violet flowers. The acidity is like rainfall. The elegant, ripe, lush, polished, well balanced finish is delicious. Very luxurious mouthfeel.

I don’t know of any other producers who make a single-varietal wine from this obscure grape, but this wine is still fairly easy to find, an observation that is not difficult to understand. This wine is just plain delicious. Year after year it is in my top two or three white wines. Very aromatic, it boasts an abundance of fruity and floral aromas. On the palate, flavors of lychee and dried apricot reveal a subtle sweetness that is hard to resist. 100% Bukettraube. 4/13/25. — 7 months ago

Beautiful blend. Can't go wrong for the money — 4 years ago
Fresh, fruity and still rather young with good body and high alcohol, with little loss of purplish edge yet. Could last another 5+ years, with the supportive soft tannin and acidity underpinning the forward fruit. — 6 years ago
Dark garnet red with some tawny edges. A bit stinky on the nose with some cheese, wood and black cherries. Medium tannins (6/10) with a medium body. Notes of bark and dried cherries on the palate. Drinking well right now with a long finish. Drink till 2019. — 7 years ago
Just opened up another 2021 (have a few left in the collection after tasting this in SA). On the nose stone fruit, with a hint of flint. Taste: amazing texture and length, freshness, minerality and some wet wool, lanolin and hints of anise. I’d say perfect time to drink the 2021!

Nose of currant and cherry. Medium tannins, cherry and currant notes, slight smoke. Good right out of the bottle! — 5 years ago
D3. Very light Chenin. Getting some lemon primarily on the nose. Very light but crisp open yet acidity is restrained. Middle with hints of peach and tangerine. Finishes with more rounded edges than I thought it would. Did what it needed to do to mellow me post lunch! — 7 years ago

Another solid vintage of this South African Bordeaux-Style red. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (49%), Merlot (28%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Petite Verdot (3%). Aromas of black fruit, vanilla and dried rose petals. Flavors of cassis, blackberry, mulberry, black cherry, dried herbs and minerals. Lengthy finish and full bodied. Soft tannins and well structured. Nicely aged and quite elegant. — 7 months ago
