a strong showing from Nick Goldschmidt, and the Alexander Valley at a nice sub $20 price! Aromas of dark cherry fruits, and balanced oak peek through Velvety, fruit forward and balanced mouthfeel with nice tannins and acidity. Decant for a min of 50 min! — 8 years ago
The Jimmy Watson Trophy is awarded to the best one year old Dry Red at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show and is highly sought after, guaranteeing an immediate sell out. To complicate matters only 250 cases of this wine were made and this wine won the 2011 JW Trophy. I managed to buy 2 bottles and this is my first and it is superb. Made by SA Shiraz Royalty in Nick Glaetzer from Tasmanian cool climate Shiraz. Aromas of Pepper, Egyptian spices, Incense. On the medium bodied palate spicy red fruits and more white pepper finishing with soft supple fine tannins. An absolutely lovely Northern Rhone style. Would defy anyone to pick this blind as an Australian Shiraz. — 8 years ago
We have corinna's brother, Nick, this bottle for his 65th and he presented it today for New Years's day lunch; extremely pleasant, lots of tannins yet soft and light flavours. — 8 years ago

First wine I've had from this producer I've been intensely curious about. Extremely gassy, even past Badoit territory, needed some serious Mollydooker shaking and decanting to get into drinkable territory and then a bit more time beyond that to get its composure. It's got pure red-fruited flavors and aromas in the same tone, but instead of fruity the scents are intensely floral, very rosy along with something else underneath like rhubarb or some other member of the root family. Unfortunately I think there is also a nick of volatile acidity. The texture is lean and refined, perhaps not to the extent of some of the Eyrie wines but not so far off. — 9 years ago
