What a difference a year has made! Hazelnut, espresso, whiskeyed caramel expressions of the fragrant type. Heavy liqueur cherry chocolate. Real, muddy, earthy, cigar depth. Chocolate and coffee liqueurs with a vanilla cedar, toast and cobra venom. Burnt sugar and burnt earth leave you in the dust. — 9 years ago
If lovage grew at the feet of groves of tangerines and we sat beneath these quenching our thirst eating balled watermelon dressed in lime zest and spearmint. Organic to boot! Among my very favorite rosés to date in 2015. An absolute delight tasted on a Flower Day. — 10 years ago
This looked dead - muddy and rusty...but totally different on the palate. Bright red currants, so amazing, and softened nicely the longer it was open... — 10 years ago
Wonderful Shiraz and six years old to boot. — 11 years ago
Interesting blend of Napa Sauv Blanc, Ribolla gialla, Semillon and Tocai Fruilano. Great mineral/flint, nice acidity, peach and lemon/lime. Wasn't sure about this when I had a small taste in Feb, but loving it now from bottle over several nights. Excellent. 12.9% to boot. — 11 years ago
2009 in 2016. All red fruit, fresh, strawberry, cranberry, cherry and lots of floral, violets, roses, and lavender- muddy/cloudy interesting soapy aftertaste (and it wasn't the glass)- very little oak influence — 9 years ago
Deep in color and fragrant on the nose, this dark ruby red from Sicily offers a powerful set of aromas: cassis, black olives, cigar box, leather, anise and smoke all come around fairly quickly. This is one of those wines I run across from time to time that smells so good I almost forget to drink it. Almost. The palate is dark and savory. Blackberry and black plum are the most notable fruit flavors, but the Morgante is all about the trimmings. There is a muddy forest floor component and, if you are new to wine, rest assured that it’s a good thing. Minerality comes in abundance and there is a hint of sage there, too, with notes of tea, coffee and root beer finding their way through. — 9 years ago
This Central Otago Pinot Noir comes to us from two of Rockburn's sites, one located in the hillside region of Parkburn in Cromwell Basin and the other coming from the back road of Gibbston Valley.
This bottle was a favourite for many at the tasting, as despite it's young age, it displays mature characters of spice, blackberry, with mocha and dark chocolate to boot.
Subtle berry and smokey aromas lead into a wine that is full bodied with all the tannic structure you could ask for.
Incredible finish.

Woah. Natural wine. Boot leather. Open 8 days and still kicking. Totally weird. — 11 years ago
What do you drink after serving the Valentine's Day rush? You drink 15 year old wine. Mellow fruit, with wood notes and a calmer finish. Aged cheddar and Merlot infused cheese to boot. Happy Valentine's Day. — 9 years ago
I was looking for essence of tannin to go with the leg of lamb on Boxing Day, and found it in this righteous elixir. No pussyfooting around here--it's the real stuff. Shot through with coarse-ground black pepper; sturdy as a faithful hiking boot. — 9 years ago
Started out a little muddy, but with some air some really lovely delineated fruit, cedar, herbal and clay-ey character — 10 years ago
Wow. Basket of apples and pears along with a brioche bun and a mouthful of rocks all in a really really good way with a nice pucker on the finish to boot. — 10 years ago
Dry, earthy, muddy - good overall value — 10 years ago
