Before the storm! Apremont Jacquere planted in 1956, destroyed in 2019 by hail. Orchard fresh fruit salad. Stony pallet and pineapple acidity. There is a creamy character, nice little background to the fruit and mineral. Does need some air to disparate some ‘natural odors’ but I find those easy to get past. — 5 years ago
Enjoyable. Medium tannins, highly drinkable. Tart strawberry and plum. — 6 years ago
Mathieu has taken over winemaking and has done a fabulous job. This was all bright mid red fruits with some hues of blue and soft earthiness. Fresh & pure wire to to wire and a really nice pair with Hedy’s amazing spicy pumpkin soup. @ Plate & Bottle. Photos of, those old narly Gamay vines, Hedy’s spicy pumpkin soup, Mathieu barrel tasting and a little fireside bubbles & cheese before dinner. — 9 years ago
Opaque red. Sharply defined red fruit, floral and Moroccan spice aromas, along with intense mineral, garrigue and cola nuances. Shows superb depth as well as vivacity on the palate, offering juicy red and blue fruit, floral pastille and spicecake flavors and an exotic hint of blood orange. Finishes impressively long and precise with firm tension, discreet tannins and reverberating red fruit and floral notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, January 2023) — 3 years ago
Had for G's 30th birthday celebration (a few days early) with Convivial takeout. Needed a little time to breathe; peppery at first but got fruitier with time. Delicious. ~$40 at Dvines. — 6 years ago
Good, but not great. Yeasty. From Chelsea and Nehal. — 7 years ago

Delicious aperitif! — 9 years ago

Dry but with stone fruit notes that imply sweetness. High acidity. And the fizz. Refreshing. Delicious. I want more! — a year ago
A perfect white wine. Minerality, slight lemon, dry finish. Perfect with our braised salmon dinner. — a year ago
Big rich wonderful wine that tastes like a very good Chateauneuf — 4 years ago
A very unique wine. Needs time to open. Notes immediately of fresh raspberries then opens up more with notes of salt on tomato. — 5 years ago
Very fruity and delicious. Not too heavy but definitely some body. — 6 years ago
Great nose: raw dry-aged strip steak, crushed rocks, peppercorns, oozy dark berry sap. Dense and minerally, this is soft-textured but with loads of tannic scaffolding. Long, clingy, minerally finish. Because it’s from Corbieres, the acids are a bit lower than, say, a Northern Rhône Syrah, but other than that it would be a dead ringer for a Syrah from that region. Great value. — 9 years ago

So, a French Languedoc old vine Carignan from 100+-year-old vines (12.5% ABV) in Corbieres, shows classic southern French garrigue, sage and rosemary I smell, complex yet much lighter on the palate, these old vine Carignan tonight are both quite fine, though I will say that if you tried these blind side-by-side, it wouldn’t be difficult to identify the Old World vs. New World versions. — 8 months ago
