Sick nose. So complex. Hint of sweet wood, such a complex perfume and florals. Lovely pit fruits that are just vivid and detailed. So deep, endless nuance. This is a knockout. Palate is like elite 1er cru white burgundy. Awesome sweet wood that is so well integrated that only an MW could pull this off. The complexity is off the charts. Brown sugar, pitted fruits and an almost Cochr like luxuriousness. This is brilliant! Brilliant freshness and this is straight as an arrow and laser like in its precision and finesse. Perfect balance. Blown away. The depth of this perfume is amazing. Almost a Tolkien like amalgam of earthen scents. So special. Palate is so round yet so pure. Salty now on the finish. Exceptional wine. Ziereisen Jaspis level. — 4 years ago
My first Von Der Mark wine. And wow. He is a Pinot specialist from Baden. Vines near Freiburg like Möbitz. A Dutch fellow who is also a MW. I zoomed with him for an hour before he sent me samples. The right people liked his wines and that was enough for me to get samples.
Ridiculously high toned nose. Just incredible. Huge Pinot aromas that are classic and delightful at the same time. It smells like Chambolle like it’s crazy. Or a killer Vosne Romanee Village wine. It’s one of the Jost lifted aromatic wines I’ve had. Usually wines have an aromatic ceiling. This has none. Straight to your brain. There’s a citrus undertone. Ethereal floral complexity. Elite. It’s broad but filled out and clear. There is also a lovely earthy funk. Wow. Vosne Romanee violets. This is crazy aromatic. Like elite. Palate is so good. This is so elegant, has such terrific mouthfeel. Terrific compact fruit intermingled with crazy spice. Juicy and so clean. Sour, mid season cherries form a sweet/tart interplay that is terrific. Awesome ripeness and just insanely fresh, deep, pure and fleshy cherry fruit. This has guts as well. Sweet, ripe tannins and minerals abound in the finish, which is crazy long. This is as easy to ponder as it is to drink. — 5 years ago
Smell has a touch of lime, petroleum and mothballs, it stays in the taste that had a nice acidity, wine from old vines, complex, nice and interesting, very good for this price. — 5 years ago

Stunning nose. Allspice, tart red fruits, cranberry, cardamom, clove, very Xmas vibes. Gorgeous earthy sweet spice as well. Palate is terrific. So elegant, sweet and intense yet nimble. Incredibly precise fruit (mid season cherry, sweet strawberry and a hint of black cherry) and terrific freshness, energy and cut. So pure and sappy. But remains nimble and svelte. Velvety tannins and high acids make this a Pinot geek’s dream. Such a good slowly building finish. Tremendous balance and awesome purity. — 5 years ago
Wow what a nose. Super citrus, green herbals, sage, some lemongrass, so complex, floral as well. Melon, green and honeydew. A great blind SB as no grass, piss or gooseberry. So complex. So unique. Palate is insanely fresh, complex and has terrific structure and depth. Wow. This is major and a very serious SB that calls Graves and also Germany. It’s rich, complex and super nimble. Palate is super focused and so precise. Fruit is blend of various citrus, hint of vineyard stone fruits and loads of minerals on the finish. Long ass finish as well. Gets to every nook and cranny. Some crannies have fruit and some nooks have minerals.
After air the fruit starts to come out aromatically. Stone fruits, citrus and even confectionary aromas. Concentrated and earthy. Terrific finish. Almost 9.4. — 5 years ago

2015 is apparently the season for German rosés chez moi. Is this a function of having unceremoniously quit my job selling French wines? Perhaps. Or perhaps they are just extra extra good this year, perhaps both. Freiherr Spätburgunder tastes like pure watermelon juice. 100% ideal for 4 pm on a Wednesday, or any other time for that matter. 💕💕💕raise the steins to @Amanda Linn & @Michael Newsome for bring this my way. Simple, pretty little bottle of earthy mushrooms, red apple skin, tart cherries, and dried cranberries. Light bodied, flirtatious, and raw.

What. A. Nose. Floral like crazy. So clean. Early to mid season cherries. Ripe. Huge earthy scents. Like a first. You’d expect a beach with a name like this. You can smell it but it is so restrained. Glorious spice and herbals. Spice gets deep and more penetrating with air. What a palate. Sick mid palate. One gets lost in it. Then sweet, lean and tons of red fruits and tangy spices. So pure and clean. Decadent but restrained. Amazing palate impact and depth. Teeming with energy. Wow. What sappy sweet fruit but also super tangy with serious structure and spice. Deep. How can a wine so deep be so finesse driven? What a finish. Keeps pumping that slippery, sweet, delicate and tangy fruit. So pure. Just brilliant. I can’t stop drinking it. What a finish. Keeps expanding. The sweetness here is legendary. Epic. What a mid palate. With air it picks up complexity and the structure deepens. This is top class. — 5 years ago
