Crisp and tasty, but not sure it is worth the price tag. Citrus peel and wild Italian herbs. — 7 days ago

Susucaru Rosato Malvasia Blend 2021

Good, yet not very ‘special’.
Paired it with Ottolenghi’s Orzo Puttanesca.

Paolo Bea

Santa Chiara Umbria Bianco Malvasia Blend 2016

Poured into a Boa decanter about 30min prior to service. The 2016 “Santa Chiara pours a brilliant, deep and slightly hazy copper gold color with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with desiccated apricots, dried apples, yellow flowers, and curaçao. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium- tannins. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is super long and super amazing. This is such a wonderful bottle of Bea. When his whites hit, well…they really hit. Drink now with a short decant or over the next 3-5 years. more like a red wine on the nose and palate- very quirky! fruit skin (peach, pear) tannic quality, vegetal (maybe artichoke flavor?) described as roasted fennel. The citrus quality and acid hit differently than a typical white or orange. a fun wine to try with a friend who likes wine. - angela brought this — a month ago

Castello di Ama

Gran Selezione San Lorenzo Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2017

Too young but still very nice with a 5h decant - suggest checking back in another 3-5 years. Tannins are very present, but the fruit and earth are very nice. Good acid too, especially for a hot vintage. — 3 months ago

Baron de Ley

Blanco Reserva Tres Viñas Rioja Viura Blend 2016

I’ve had three bottles of this in the cellar for the last few years and, for no particular reason, haven’t touched them. Tonight I thought I’d pull the cork on one to enjoy with Manchego and Serrano ham, as an appetiser ahead of some Spanish cuisine at home tonight. I can’t recall where I bought these, but they weren’t expensive - and this wine certainly overdelivers for the price. It has a classical, fresh bouquet of blanched almonds, nectarines, and clementines. The palate is medium bodied, juicy, saline and fresher still, with a hint of orange bitters on the finish. Enjoyable stuff! — 5 months ago

Cá del Magro Custoza Superiore Garganega Blend 2020

2020 vintage.
A field blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscana, Manzoni, Tocai Friulano , Cortese, Chardonnay, Riesling Italico, and Malvasia.
Custoza is in the hills of Lake Garda. Magro vineyard is small and 30 plus years old. White spring flowers, citrus and ginger on the nose. Medium bodied and off-dry with an underlying acidity. Yellow stone fruits with apple, pear and ripe persimmon.
This wine paired well with Spaghetti alla Vongole with local clams.
