Amazingly, this treasure, my last bottle of the saturated purple '99 Ojai Syrah 'Thompson Vineyard', was much fresher and significantly fruitier than the previous bottle consumed about a year ago. This one I drank immediately after decanting (with copious sediment). Super dense aromatics and smoky flavors of dark fruit, damp earth, cracked pepper, leather and licorice abounded. The silky finish was long, powerful and eminently satisfying. — 10 years ago
