For a 20 year old St Estephe this Cos d’Estournel is sublime. Perfectly aged but shows a lot of youth throughout the hour opening with red fruit mixed in with leather and chalk. A good 35 sec finish. A classic Bordeaux that rocks! Kept from my Phd days ( Rodolphe this is the last one buddy) is surprisingly vibrant. happy birthday 🥳 Philippa. — 7 years ago

Light with a lot of Green bellpepper... But still good Tannin — 11 years ago
Pop and pour. Black cherry, kirsch, black licorice, and some wood smoke both on the nose and palate. Deep ruby color, medium body. A nice impression of fruit—big, but not as heavy as expected. Medium tannins, medium acids, but they linger onto the finish. A decent wine, with better-than-average complexity. I'd get half a case of this and be quite happy... — 11 years ago
Very good Pinot Noir and reasonably priced. — 13 years ago

Golden amber color. Briny, diluted iodine, smoky, red fruit, floral and herbal notes on the nose. Warm mouthfeel. Hints of sherry and stewed fruits on the palate. — 6 years ago
Great wine and even better consider the price! — 7 years ago
Great, slightly sweet taste! A notch less than Johnny Walker Black Label! Had it with ice & a little bit of water! — 8 years ago
Very rich with flavor. More flavor then the regular red ménage a trois. Both are great! — 9 years ago
Dark hazy purple mixed with bloody red, almost inky dark. Nose of hickory fragrance, nice sweet oaks, warmth, some hit spice, some leather, and some powerful alcohol in the nasal cavity. Very nice nose. Taste of some dark chocolate, ample acidity, leathery, tinkling sensation, silky mouthfeel, zest, sweet plum mixed with sweet oak. She shows good Syrah flavors, and low in tannins. Aftertaste of nice zest to balance the sweet note, medium long and tasty, a bit too much sulfate bittersweetness is a pity. She is a decent NV. — 9 years ago

Very good everyday table wine — 11 years ago
Need I say much. Though ironically this showed a lot of bell pepper similar to a 09 Hewitson Mourvèdre. — 12 years ago
Great table wine! — 14 years ago
Great wine especially for the price — 6 years ago
So subtle - dried orange peel, potpourri and creamed corn - a delight, thank Hugh — 7 years ago
A Monastrell from Jumilla which I always enjoy. 18 months in oak. Very hot and dry aromas in the nose, sour red fruits, Black Forest berries, handful of nuts, jam. Very nice acidity and tannins, could still wait couple of years and age beautifully — 8 years ago
Cherry and spice at the end. California. — 9 years ago
Still a lot of life left despite the vintage. After decanting for an hour it is hard to find any flaw with it. — 9 years ago
Absolutely love this blend ❤️🍷#birthdaywine — 11 years ago
I'd get to drinking your 97's now. Good...great actually but beginning to lose a lot. Cork was quite soft on mine. Flavor...like California...but smoother ;-) — 11 years ago
