Lodi, Central Valley

Seven Deadly Red

Central Valley Red Blend 2016

This is a big and bold red blend from Lodi, California. Spicy and engaging.

Showing black fruits with chocolates, oak, vanilla, coffee, mocha, peppercorn, light earth, smoke and alcohol.

Full-bodied and very very fruity.

Dry to off-dry on the palate with medium acidity.

Spicy finish with soft tannins.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime, when more complexity shows up.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with cheeses and crackers. Will pair very nicely with Burgers and Fries.

I bought some a few years ago to check how it would evolve with some aging. It didn't really mellow down, but this five-year-old is tasty and very easy to drink.

I had it two years ago and it is drinking much nicer now. Was worth the wait.

Might be a tad too sweet for some.

15% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Juicy fruity of cherry flavor. This is the 12th box from Firstleaf and the selection is quite right for me. 1-12 of Firstleaf. — 6 days ago

Lodi Cinsault 2018

Ruby red, excellent clarity, moderate pigment extraction. Violets in nose, cherry and red berries in mouth. Spice and seed finish with mild skin astringency. Light body, fruity, complex, like your great grandparents might have enjoyed it. Another heirloom wonder from Sandlands. — 3 days ago

Smoky red-purple opacity. Good legs. Currant, dark cherry, spice and dark chocolate. Smoky on the palete, lightly sweet, subtly spicy with notes of cherry and chocolate. Good mid priced Cabernet. More please! — 3 days ago

"Joy" Holiday Blend White 2020

Interesting blend, both green and toasted. Tastes exactly as the name suggests- Christmas. Mint, white chocolate, toast. Guessing a chard/SB blend. Was solid on its own, but really shined with food. Had this with many different flavors and it worked. — 13 days ago

Perrin Vineyard Old Vine Zinfandel 2018

Motor oil, bitter chocolate and tea. Boysenberry. Blackberry preserves. There is a background of red fruit that brightens it up. Noticeable dry tannins in a medium bodied zin. This is a zin that needs to age a bit. It takes time to open up. (Was tasting it’s best at 2hr). This is not a dark heavy wine. Hot at 16.5%. But the palate is light in a good way for its high alc. Good texture. Particularly interesting for me because I just bought some fruit from this vineyard to make wine! 💚🍷 — 18 days ago
