Eventually opened up to some delicious lifted fruit and firm spicy tannin. — 8 years ago
Again, fruit is the star of the show. Bright raspberry, cherry, and pomegranate with subtle stony undertones. Lifted fruit with serious integration of acidity and delicate dusty tannin. More pleasure and cohesiveness than the last bottle if a little less complex. — 9 years ago
2005 Marcarini "Brunate" Barolo - Pale and hazy ruby. Upon opening it smelled like a whiskey barrel. 2 hours later the aromas developed into iron/bloody/stoney mineral, leather and powdery floral notes with ripe earthy cherry. Great acidity, medium herbaceous driven tannins carefully lifted by the alcohol. Lean and dry chinato-like flavors of orange peel and red fruits. Great bitter herb finish. Decant for 3 hours and Drink now or hold for 10. — 10 years ago
Violets, bacon fat, beautiful lifted limestone, white pepper on the nose. Gorgeous texture, minerals and dark black fruit. Still young, another 5-10 years to peak — 10 years ago
This has a stunning, lifted powerful nose of apricot and a powerful exhilarating palate with driven fruit, sweetness and a blast of electric deft acidity. Amazing- I'd love to try this in 10 years — 8 years ago
Very deep yet light nose with really fresh Rick pools and that lifted raveneau chalky thing. Beautiful intense and complex fruit with surprisingly assertive acidity. Still young. Very dynamic and very long. Light but profound — 8 years ago
One of the most interesting wines I've had. Florals, juicy stone fruit and golden apple, aspirin, prosciutto all interweaved. Highly dynamic and very fresh and lifted — 9 years ago
Lovely fruit sweetness, dry lingering finish. Equal parts syrup and zest, textural apricot and lifted green apple. A drink to make you happy. — 10 years ago
2005: gorgeous wine. Lifted aromatics, white flowers, very terroir driven with stony chalky notes, deft touches of green apple, pear and white peach. Gently integrated oak. Wonderful mouthfeel, light phenolics, lovely vibrant acidity. Very mineral led style. Is what a Grand Cru Chablis wishes it could be... — 10 years ago
Oh baby! Just gorgeous nose, drop dead and effusive. Lifted notes of red currant jam, red plums, spiced figs. So much garrigue and lavender. Pepper, pastis, bittersweet cocoa, sweet leather, pipe tobacco, savory meat and truffle. Tannins still have some grit and once could argue it's got some more time ahead but the condition of the nose/palate are so great. — 8 years ago
Seemed more evolved than the 08. Less focused and lifted for me. Hazelnut, brioche and golden apple. Had a yeasty quality that didn't resonate with me and I think I enjoyed this vintage less than most who identified it as their favorite of the flight....but it was still wonderful. — 8 years ago
Lasted 15 minutes. Beautiful nose, fresh and lifted palate. Hints of funk and undergrowthiness. Nice work as always @Pax Mahle — 10 years ago
Seductive nose, ripe blackberry and a telltale white pepper finish with a nicely lifted finish. Cofermented with Viogner and very Delish. Was a wonderful companion to ribs and rain at Kirkwood. — 10 years ago

Lifted, bright, and rich, but completely balanced. Delicious. — 7 years ago
