Pretty happy with this Bordeaux blend but unhappy that I won't be able to buy at Costco again. Purchased almost 4 yrs ago. Enjoyed with cheesy tomatillo enchiladas with chizo, squash and spinach rice (courtesy of Blue Apron). This was nice and smooth, good bold dark fruit up front, some pepper and tobacco. Great price at $14. — 6 years ago
Juicy and still with plenty of life. This is drinking perfectly.

K&L notes as follows
This property was a Bill Blatch favorite-and as usual I have never visited the property which is located in Begadan. Château Vieux Robin is a family owned Cru Bourgeois estate located in Begadan at the far north of the Médoc. 5th generation owners Maryse and Didier Robin have made huge strides in terms of quality since they took over in 1988. Didier Robin, who learnt his trade at Château Clarke, is a skilled winemaker and now produces 4 different cuvées of ascending quality. There are only 18 hectares of vines and Vieux Robin is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Old school Bordeaux with 12% alcohol. Over 20 years old and still lively and fresh. No fancy oak here-just good Merlot and Cabernet.

If you hold it long enough Austin Hope will be the first GELIFIED Bottle,Drank 12/16/19. Nice with burgers.
Nose of red currant and cherry, with a bit of smoke imparting the only noticeable oak influence. Flavors of plums black cherry, and a touch of earth on the simple palate. Medium silky tannins. If I had to knock this wine, I would say that it lacks a bit of complexity and length on the finish, but overall very enjoyable. Would pair nicely with lighter fare, such as pork or chicken as well. Excellent QPR at around $13.(Costco)

Nice, young Margaux, plenty of potential here. Needs a little time to open up but after an hour this is very enjoyable. Nose is blackcurrants, oak, vanilla and a little menthol and spice. Early on the palate is fresh and clean but a little savoury however, the fruit and some sweetness evolve as it warms up. Tannins are present but not too drying and on day two they have smoothed out. This is a good value wine, worthy of cellaring, give it five years and probably be at the sweet spot. — 6 years ago

Very nice floral and fruity bouquet. Not as dry as I would’ve hoped but enjoyed thoroughly and will buy again. — 8 years ago
60/40 cab/merlot. very aromatic. sweet ripe bell pepper, eucalyptus, dried red cherries, cedar, woodsy. medium weight, firm and juicy tannins. excellent value. — 9 years ago

2007 vintage is earthy folks — 12 years ago
Appearance: clear clarity, medium intensity, garnet. Nose: clean condition, medium intensity, aroma - cigar, black berry, fruitcake, stewed prune. Palate: dry, high acidity, medium (+) chalky tannin, flavour - dark cherry, chocolate, smoky, long finish. Conclusion, very good and approachable cab-sauv, great value for its price tag ($33), alcohol and flavour greatly integrated. — 13 years ago

Very classic Sancerre. Just ripe enough to avoid unpleasant greenness, there’s some fruit, but the terroir really shines through. Some gooseberry fruit but loads of wet limestone and a little Chablis-like brothiness even. In the mouth it’s relatively full, has good acids and great balance. — 3 years ago
