San Lorenzo

Rosso Piceno Vigneto di Gino Sangiovese Blend 2013

Fresh and drinkable, very food friendly, fruit forward but not overpoweringly so. — 8 years ago

Cannubi San Lorenzo Barolo Nebbiolo 2008

Beautiful Barolo from small parcel on cannubi. Classic tar, rose petals, just starting to open up. Drink 2015-2025 — 10 years ago

Lorenzo Corino

la Barla Case Corini Barbera d'Asti 2006

An oddity for me, strange at first until a stink blew off. But what emerged was neat, very different, young Nebbiolo on steroids. — 10 years ago

Lorenzo Accomasso

Rocche dell'Annunziata Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo

Another iconic producer in his 80's making a wine that is very unique. I was able to purchase a few of his older vintages recently but have not yet opened. You get a smorgasbord of flavors with dark fruits a touch of VA, balsamic & lots of spice. The restaurant gives him a whole lamb cooked and separated into single vacuum sealed packs for the opportunity to get 24 btls. — 8 years ago

Cannubi S. Lorenzo Ravera Barolo Nebbiolo 2000

One of last bottles I bought in 2004 in Italy at winery. Absolutely gorgeous nose. Cherry, floral, Coca Cola. Still has lots of fruit smooth tannins and great length. Drinking window by professional stated through 2015. Has at least 5 years in my mind. — 9 years ago

Lorenzo Begali

Monte Ca' Bianca Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2009

Campo delle Oche Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2012

Some structure for a very under rated wine... — 8 years ago

Lorenzo Begali

Recioto della Valpolicella Classico

A raisin-leaning nose. A depth so deep it escapes my ability to describe. An obvious pruniness but held in check by a dark beautiful depth so extreme it appears to be what's left of the grape after the grape is gone. — 8 years ago

Chasseur

Lorenzo Chardonnay 2010

Crowd pleaser... Big and a little overoaked IMO. Not Burgundian as claimed although i do enjoy Chasseur. — 9 years ago

Cour-Cheverny Romorantin 2010

One of the better Cour-Cheverny wines I've tasted: a statement that says everything but also nothing. Less unpleasantly oxidative than Daridan, more interesting than de Montcy and Cazin and at much frendlier price than Henri Marionnet. For the money I think this is the best that's out there-- Golden apple skin, celery, tarragon. — 10 years ago

There was a library release of Renaissances a few years ago, including '95s and '96es. If you can get your hands on them, they are sensational wines. In their youth they can be a little cloying though, I agree.

I'll definitely have to seek those out. Sounds spectacular.

Within the last year or so, I saw them at Nice Matin and Bathazar for under $100. Not exactly the sort of thing that flies off a shelf.

Laura Aschero

Riviera Ligure di Ponente Rossese 2013

Can't say I've tasted a ton of Rosseses, but this one is delicious. Perfect summer wine! — 11 years ago
