Lala Lá

Delmas Wines

Walla Walla Valley Syrah

Holy smokes! Made in the same style as a LaLa with a dollop of viognier for aromatics...and it pulls it off flawlessly. Gorgeous wine. — 8 years ago

Sine Qua Non

Five Shooter Syrah 2010

Perhaps the most restrained SQN Syrah I've had since E-raised. This drank like an incredibly balanced, nuanced mid 90s LaLa. Perfectly on the right edge of extreme extraction. Restraint but power in spades. — 9 years ago

@Bodil Martin I always thought that it was really funny that you can say this as a "value purchase" at this price point! LOL!!!!
Bravo! Incredible wine!

E. Guigal

Brune et Blonde de Guigal Côte-Rotie Syrah 2003

Amazing silky texture. Fig, cassis, and dark cherry fruit - intense yet lovely, plus smoked meats, and thin veneers of mineral and tobacco. A poor man's LaLa to be sure, but far from a poor effort. — 9 years ago

Atlantis Fe2O3-1a Syrah 2005

This is my 4th check in on this wine and it is truly in full stride. A very lala type flavor profile, perhaps more so than any SQN rhone varietal I've had. Grilled meats, charred cedar and bay leaf mixed with a ripe Alban-esque stewed tomato back end (in a good way)....but a bit more restraint and polish than the Alban. This got about an hour in the decanter and I would suggest triple that. As expected each taste of the night in glass was better than the last. A 3 hour decant and just the right food pairing and this could be +/- 100 point wine. — 10 years ago

Cailloux Vineyard Syrah 2007

Tasted blind. I would hve bet my first six kids this was a high end cote Rotie (not quite LaLa level). The black pepper was off the chart. Never had an American terroir put off this much earth. Put it on your buy list — 9 years ago

Blind in the glas. What a nose! Oh man. My guess was a LaLa of Guigal. Languedoc it is.....how many of you know this wine? Very very impressed! 2nd time blind, 2nd time 98/100 — 9 years ago

Armada Vineyard Syrah 2004

Typical funk on the nose. Sour dark cherries on the palate. Tremendous structure. Rhone's best for a fraction of the cost. LaLa? I'll go with Christophe. I'm a BIG Cayuse fan. — 11 years ago
