A beautiful dry rose with great depth of flavor, texture and an incredible finish. I need to get more of this! — 6 years ago
First winery on day two in Sonoma was Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa with Meredith. The next Rhone varietal red was the Cuvée Keltie Syrah. Made up of 100% Syrah from four vineyards in Sonoma County; Kobler Family, Steiner Ranch, Obsidian and Richard Family vineyards. This bottling is 100% whole cluster fermented in small batches then aged for 21 months in neutral French oak. Only 301 cases produced.
Dark ruby red with some violet hues. Complex and layered nose with leather, twigs, sweet spices, touch floral and dark red berries. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Rich palate with vanilla, cinnamon, smokiness, baking spices, dark cocoa, dark berries and a touch of light petrol. Long finish. Drink till 2030.

Taste this blind and you will guess Burgundy. The nose, the palate, the color; everything screams burg. Speaking of the nose; foot fetish anyone? ( @Shawn R ) Locker room, wild tart cherry, damp forest floor, roasted lamb juices, and well... women’s shoes 👠 . Savory and meaty. After a couple hours open, this builds some sweetness on the back end; a little Luden’s cherry drop and dried thyme sprigs. Really well made and a true testament to the terroir of this single vineyard. Burgundy lovers need to get their hands on this. — 6 years ago
2010 - Per Meredith, it’s good (dry), but it is “shallow”. Not much going on after the initial flavor.
Crisp and light, as others have said. Hints of lavender, like Dry Soda. — 7 years ago
Loved the pare and green apple on this, crisp and lean just how I like my white wine. — 7 years ago

First winery on day two in Sonoma was Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa with Meredith. The last Rhone varietal red was the Walker Vine Hill Syrah. Sadly we were told that this was the last vintage that will be produced. This bottling is made up of 100% Syrah and is around 40-50% whole cluster fermented then aged for 20 months in 25% new French oak. 1,025 cases produced.
Insanely dark and inky purplish ruby red, completely coats the glass. Dark berries on the start of the nose followed up by cinnamon, cocoa, blueberries and some dustiness. Medium plus tannins (7/10) with a full body. Rich and layered palate with red currants, red plums, even a touch of blue fruits and some solid minerality. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2028. First winery on day two in Sonoma was Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa with Meredith. First up was the Nancie Chardonnay which is named after Tripp and Cushing's grandmother. It is made up of 100% Chardonnay from four vineyards with Sonoma County. The first two are from on top of Sonoma Mountain, then the third is from 30+ year old vines in the Russian River Valley and the last is from Green Valley. Aged for 10 months in 20% new French oak. 1,947 cases produced.
Medium to light golden yellow. Creamy nose with lemon curd, red apples, vanilla beans and a touch of stoniness in the finish. Medium plus acidity (7/10) with a lean medium body. Crisp attack on the palate with some yellow tree and stone fruits and a little bit of a creamy texture. A touch sharp in the medium plus finish. Drink till 2022.
