M3 Vineyard Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2019

I tried an on-special-by-the-glass white burgundy from my favourite wine bar - Hellbound (Adelaide). Wow. Blew me away. Gorgeous, flinty, with flavour shaped from start through to its long finish. Ignorant to a tee, I asked the varietal? Chardonnay. Ok then .. so begun my Chardonnay journey and I’ve discovered the Adelaide Hills does it well. Brings me to this, recommended by @Bob McDonald. and am I glad! At the upper end of my buying range this is worth every cent. Takes me straight to that white burgundy (wish I could remember what it was). Opening with subtle stone fruits (grapefruit first, light peach/citrus following) finishing with a long flinty, minerally finish. Complex, interesting, kept me coming back for more :) — 3 years ago

When you pop one and decant and then taste you never really know what to expect but gratefully my family on Delectable has helped me so much - I know it is holidays speaking but we have so much as a group to thankful for - to you and yours - have a glorious holiday

This wine has been resting for a long time - I have decided to start drinking wines that I was storing as I cannot take them with me so Dilly Dilly

What a wine what a wine what a mighty good wine

Dark purplish red as is the season - when I taste I immediately smile and laugh with hohoho sound - the smell is amazing with all the kitchen sink ingredients but somehow I smell mistletoe and cinnamon - ''tis the season again" - and the finish is long like when you watch a big snowflake fall from the sky - it takes forever and ever

Starting my annual Christmas wine journey and again thank you folks for making the wine taste even better with your likes and comments - more wine to come tonight and tomorrow

Smiling for so many reasons and happy holiday

Hermitage Syrah 1999

Murky dark tawny. Opaque. Exotic nose. Notes of black fruit, menthol, smoked meat, some bacon and some spice. Rich and luscious in the mouth. Tasted blind one might guess La La. Great juice that is still early in its journey. — 4 years ago

The most pinot like syrah one could imagine! Maraschino cherries blast you initially, but nice tannic grip and lingering bright red finish make this an interesting treat. Yum! — 6 years ago

Château Montrose

La Dame de Montrose Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Thursday night and I have pulled the trigger on the 2014 La Dame de Montrose Staint-Estèph. 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. I've been wanting to try this for awhile and today I pulled the trigger on it and I am sooooo glad I did. What a beautiful 2nd wine from Château Montrose which hear taken me back to the 1st Bordeaux I ever tasted and set me on my wine journey.

The nose has notes of black cherry, strawberry, plum, black currant, herbal notes, beautiful purple florals, tar, sweet licorice, oak and graphite.

On the palate is dense dark fruit, black cherry, raspberry, blueberry, green bell pepper, black currants and good minerality.

This wine is medium.to full bodied with medium + acidity leaning more to the + side and medium + grippy tannins that coat the whole mouth and leads you right into a long strong enjoyable finish. I'm starting my Memorial Day weekend off right and want you all to have a wonderful holiday weekend. PLEASE be SAFE! Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

This '82 was one of my epiphany wines around 15 years ago, in the midst of all the Aussie Shiraz this highlight arose, it started me down this quite interesting journey. This bottle was stored impeccably, still has a great mid-palate intensity, but it's all dried out black fruit & dark flowers now. Dried black tea & cigar leaf. — 8 years ago

The Knockout Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

A rare journey into the damned 2011 vintage and what a great surprise. This is excellent, very Bordeaux like, with a wonderful nose of cherries, violet, cedar, mushroom and menthol. The palate is very smooth without the spicy tannins of the neighbouring sunnier vintages. There is some delicate fruit, blueberry and plums with a creamy but relatively short finish. I really like this and will seek out some more and also challenge the ‘11 curse particularly from higher elevation producers. — 5 years ago

Red Car

Life is a Journey Get on the Red Car Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Life is a highway... top of peak of this wine’s life. Bouquet of raspberry nutmeg just fun California pinot. Mid palate leans toward the classic California style of soft fruits and jam with plenty of acid to pair with food. Finish is soft and about 40 seconds. What we all want for a quality California pinot at its peak. Great job! Bravo! — 6 years ago

Greek Wine Cellars (D. Kourtakis)

Santorini Assyrtiko 2015

Very nice white wine, but not very complex at the same time. Stand alone, it is a citrus packed, high acid, crisp white similar to the way a dry Sémillon from Australia drinks. Combined with the Mediterranean spices in Greek and Med cuisine, and it is perfectly at home. Might just take a little journey through Greek wine this next month and see what I find! — 6 years ago

Domaine du Cayron

Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2003

Mainly Grenache with roughly equal parts of Syrah and Cinsault.

I have never been a fan of France's hot 2003 vintage in general. However, last couple of encounters have shaken my prejudice.

This Gigondas definitely drank like it was bathed in a long heatwave for sure with very low acidic structure, soft tannin, and dried stewy red fruit characters. However, it kept me interested with the enticing Southern Rhone unique profile of grilled gamey meat, iodine, green olive, dried mint and damp earth.

This wine will not hold any longer. It's on its last leg but what a journey! 91.
