Fuuun-kay.... Highly suspect there was prolonged skin and stem contact, as well as spontaneous wild fermentation. Fun wine, but needs at the very least, some olives and nuts to go with it. — 6 years ago

Drinkable red shared with Kay, catching up and looking at her latest chat book from our Ohio hiking trip. — 4 years ago
5% Merlot added. Nose of coffee, tar and dry red florals. Fruits are like walking into Grandma's house and she just served you a mixed fruit pie straight out of the oven. Blackberries, black raspberries. Eucalyptus, mint, green bean/snow pea, nearly no red fruits show at this point. Prunes, dates, medium leather, crushed dry rocks, good presence of chunky dry minerality. Ripe fruit to dry tannin finish with good acidity. Photos of a very large old barrel with fortified wine and their tasting room. — 8 years ago
First sparkling Shiraz, amazingly good. tannin paired so well with bubbles. — 9 years ago

@Kay Delectable this is the Gran Selezione Valdonica 100% Sangiovese aged for 30 months on Chestnut barrels.
This is wine pairing perfectly with grilled Tuscan sauasages. It supports all flavors as fennel and pepper. Interesting difference between Oak and Chestnut btw. Not sure yet about it. It is so different in many ways to what I am used to.

Massively structured wine - loads of acid and guts - an Kay this down for 7-10 more years — 8 years ago
The fruit has the mouth entry of an aged wine. As it begins to set on the palate, the fruits reveal their true age. They are soft, gentle and slightly sour. Plum, rhubarb, figs, cherries, blackberries and the ripe raspberries come on during the long finish. M+ tannins, red dry roses and violets and nice acid on the finish. — 8 years ago

One of our favorite reds. Not too sweet or tanic but a nice blend of fruit, wood, and soil. Laura nicely with red meat or cheese. — 4 years ago
