Wow. Really liked this one. A motley crew blend of Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah, Tannat, Mourvèdre. A lot of my favorite grapes wrapped into one smooth blend. Paired this with some pork ribs I smoked on the Big Green Egg for 6 hours. Great match. — 4 years ago

My motley group of merry gentlemen arrived at Marta, one of my favorite stylish-casual restaurants in New York, to the popping of the cork of this delicious magnum of Pierre Peters Champagne. One of my favorite grower champagnes for its focus, citrus bite and minerality. It was a terrific surprise for a special occasion that was both touching and gratefully received. — 7 years ago

Intrigued! I taste way too many “testable varieties” recently and not enough cool things. The Alto-Adige has been on my radar though. Particularly for their chill-friendly reds. Especially when saline (not a salt fiend or anything here). I’ll be on the lookout. Thank you for sharing.

@Ellen Clifford Try the Lagrein or the Teroldego too you can find some...they spell the latter as “Tyroldego” or just “Ty...” to get around DOC rules. Did I mention they are quirky?

Crazy motley of aromas going on here. Cherries, blackberries, cedar, and gummi bears on the nose. On the palate, vanilla, black currant, cloves, dark fruits, red fruits, I could go on and on. Smooth, spicy finish. Straight Bordeaux here. It's nice to drink wine made by people who know what the heck they're doing. — 7 years ago
