Sept 22, 2018. Dinner w/ Heather & Will. This wine was a gift from our friends the Isenhower’s. Lovely WA blend of Cabernet and Petit Verdot. — 7 years ago
Wild Thyme is now a blend of 97% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc. 172 cases produced. Dense purple. Cherry blackberry and funk notes in nose. Blackberry flavor with length plus a touch of cherry. Saline, clove and black licorice notes in finish. Some tannins on finish. Restrained yet fruity, some aging potential — 8 years ago
65% Grenache, 31% Mourvèdre, 4% Syrah. Brick red with some purple in color. White pepper, raspberry and mustard greens in nose. Flavors of cherry fruit leather, strawberry jam and a spearmint note in mouth, moderate seed tannins across front of tongue. Increased complexity, plenty of tannins for further aging. Impressed with development of this wine since initial tasting at their Woodinville tasting room — 8 years ago
First to rate this wine here, ever - cool! Pale yellow-white in color. Floral, herbal and citrus notes in nose. Floral citrus melon and stone fruit notes in mouth, subdued intensity of flavors but elegant and well integrated. Rounded mouthfeel, good acidity (though short of crispness) and minerality on finish. A winner, give this wine and winery some love, people. — 9 years ago
Isenhower Cellars Sparkling Rosanne 2012 A great alternative to champagne. — 11 years ago
Ripe black fruit and slight phenolic (antiseptic) aromas. The phenolic burns off after a few minutes. Blackberry and cedar with a smooth, rich finish. — 11 years ago
Deep dense highly extracted purple red; excellent clarity at margins. Black currant fruit leather in nose with a touch of butter (later, butterscotch), funk, raspberry, blueberry, white pepper, spice and canned spinach (evolves into canned corn and something like dill; complex nose). Black currant, blackberry and black (later white) pepper flavors with cherry cola and a touch of spearmint in finish. (Sorry, it’s not a goth affectation or such; I just call it as I perceive it, honestly, scientifically, as best I can make it out). Some skin bitterness with moderate skin astringency. I’m really digging this complexity and depth of flavor... — 7 years ago
Pale golden yellow, very good clarity. Sulfite initially in nose. Floral, lemon and stone fruit flavors, mild skin astringency with lemon and grapefruit in finish. Still tasting well, good acidity, good pairing with food. Lactic and citric acid and lees contact make a great pairing with food. — 7 years ago
Last bottle, straight off the plane from the Arizona desert - look what I got waiting for me. Inky purple red in color. Dusty, later white pepper, mustard green, cassis and vanilla notes in nose. Slight matchstick. Slight skin astringency on front of tongue, raspberry water, black currant, mustard green and mint in mouth with cherry fruit leather and fine weight seed tannins on finish. Slightly alcoholic. A bouquet of herbs, veggies, weeds and red fruit in your glass, Washington state all the way. Could drink or age further. I'm pairing crackers and black pepper Boursin with this one, but garlic and herb might be better suited. — 8 years ago
Deep purple in color. Floral, spearmint, black currant, and cherry notes in nose. Spice, cherry, berry and cough syrup notes in mouth. Mild bitterness with mint, some alcoholic astringency on finish. Slight mint, black currant and milky flavors in aftertaste. Winery typically runs out of Mourvèdre, well made and popular. A nice example that shows well, with good complexity. Still ageworthy but drinking well now. — 9 years ago
Very smooth, fairly dry with a hint of sweetness and minerality without heavy acidity. — 10 years ago
This is the Isenhower 2006 Elerding Vineyard Petit Verdot bottling. Deep and dark, opaque and starting to show some brick tones on the edges. Nose is nice with floral, cedar, nutmeg, and sweet caramel candy. Palate is thick, sweet, and showing black fruits, mocha, leather, and espresso. Nice wine. — 11 years ago
I love this wine, year after year. Densely extracted, deep purple-red. White pepper, black currant, mint, mushroom (well, Chinese black fungus is better, but not so familiar to most, so close enough) and other herbal notes in nose. White pepper, berry, maybe blackberry flavors, soft mouthfeel, tart seed bitterness, berry in finish. Some skin astringency and white pepper in aftertaste. Love the complexity; flavors are expressive and varietally on point. I’m not sure if further flavor integration with aging is possible, nor if further aging can improve on the current acid-alcohol-tannin balance. But that may just reflect the fact I drink up my wines too quickly to age them sufficiently. After their Jongleur-Petit Verdot, this is my favorite red of theirs. Also note how different the tasting notes are for this vs. a year ago. Is it just me, or are the wine dynamics really changing that much? — 7 years ago
New vintage, first tasting, and my first rose of the warm season here in the PNW. Salmon pink with orange tinge. Excellent clarity. Red fruit and white pepper-sage notes in nose. Round mouthfeel. Lemon-citrus, cherry and stone fruit in mouth, some skin astringency, slight soapyness in finish, cherry-citrus and slight black pepper aftertaste. Dry, flavorful, nice varietal character, goes either way, sipping or food. Fruit flavors are delicate, faded after 24 hours so drink up or share — 8 years ago
Medium purple in color. 2014 Wild Thyme is now a Bordeaux red blend, 47% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Cabernet Franc, and 9% Petit Verdot. Black current, herb and menthol notes in nose. Rounded mouthfeel, blueberry, blackberry, cherry, cassis and green pepper flavors in mouth with length, seed tannin finish, a bit alcoholic with slight skin tannin puckering in center of tongue. Fruit more prominent with aeration. This may integrate further with additional aging as well as soften the tannins, but it's drinking well now — 8 years ago
Deep purple red in color. Cherry, berry, black pepper, green vegetable and herb notes in nose. Cherry, black currant and black pepper in mouth. Fruit forward, with lots of fine grain seed tannins, driving the bitterness and black pepper on finish. 88% cab franc shines through here — 9 years ago
Well-integrated, balanced — 11 years ago
Seattle's best. Smooth and nice. — 13 years ago
