Shout out to Mexico for making some of the most tasty stuff in the world. This gem comes from 60+ year old vines of mysterious heritage. Vibrant and wild and wonderfully layered. #mexicanwine #naturalwine #bichi — 9 years ago
Ensconced in velvet. Violets were the predominant flavor. The wine had a great nose and initial flavor. There was something out of place in the finish. Tasted up opening and a hour later. Really improved with air but never overcame the minor flaw. — 9 years ago

Beautiful ruby in color with a light ruby rim. Doesn't seem to show aging at all.
Fruity nose of blueberries, cherries, unripe plums, oak, vanilla, licorice, strawberries, spices, chocolates, smoke, peppermint, red candy, light vegetables, coffee, bell pepper, tobacco, earth, pencil lead, peppercorn and leather.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry and tart on the palate with strawberries, raspberries, oak, licorice, spices, earth, leather, almonds, cherries, spices, bell pepper, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins, black pepper and tart cherries.
This 9 year old Spanish red is still young and needs another 2 to 4 years in the bottle, but drinks well now.
Very nice by itself, with nice complexity. A great wine with food, with a nice mouthfeel and bright acidity.
Needs 3 hours to open up properly. Robert Parker gave it 94 points. I Don't know about that...
A blend of 30% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
13.5% alcohol by volume. — 10 years ago
2009...100% Sangiovese, fossils in soil, 3yrs small casks, savory on nose, tannins are softening, slightly spicy. — 10 years ago
Eating dinner at sepia in chicago. The wonderful Arthur Hon asked what I like to drink. I gave some thoughts and be surprised us with this spot-on perfect selection. Tart cherry with red plum, balanced tannins and a nice long finish — 11 years ago
Smell and taste the terroir 1994 vintage numero 26 Amber in color unbelievable for 21 years old semillion oxidized an experience — 11 years ago
Balanced, nice fruit, young (too young) but opened up quickly after decanting. Would like another bottle to lay down and try in 5-7 years. — 13 years ago
I'm trapped in a rose garden! Send help — 13 years ago
Nose a bit funky like black olive, the syrah component to this wine really amped its complexity. A bit more brooding than full tempranillo crianza offerings, this has integrated notes of cedar and ripe red fruits, and that touch of earthy, savory, lightly pungent syrah in support.
Good complement to garlic toast, roasted peppers and grilled salchiccons. — 8 years ago
Surprisingly good buy for under $10. — 9 years ago
Woodsy. Herbaceous. Makes me think of hunkering down on a late fall evening. Absolutely in love with this stuff. — 10 years ago
Clean and crisp everything you would expect in a classic Verdejo — 10 years ago
Ok. This NEEDS air. The typical Sangiovese acid was string at first. The next day..... Wham.... The nose is like sweet, dusty cherries surrounded by shoe leather. Incredibly smooth in the palate, gleaming with strawberry notes. Felt more full bodied in the mouth after a day of air. — 10 years ago
Delicious! Brought two bottles back from Spain in May 2014. New french oak, smooth tannins and bright fruit — 10 years ago
Typical, in the best way. And a good price too. — 11 years ago
Fermented in bourbon barrels. Beautiful labels. Great taste — 13 years ago
Great wine but expensive. Only available in restaurants. — 13 years ago
At la cantinetta di rignana- restaurant looking out in vineyard- crazy drive- good with pasta and roasted meats- lots of fruit- a bit peppery — 13 years ago
Burgundian elegance and complexity in Grenache form. Highly drinkable now with extremely fine tannins and balanced acidity. Such a happy wine. — 9 years ago
Wet clay, currants, grapefruit peel acidity in the finish. A bit young on the nose, chalky after. Not bad for a $9 bottle — 9 years ago
I wish this style was more common. Combines everything there is to love about fino sherry (salty, nutty, oxidative) in a lower alcohol package at 11.5%. — 10 years ago
Love the tannin:fruit:mushroom:barn blend - stinky in a really good way! — 10 years ago
Wow. Also, give Bocce in Mission a try. — 10 years ago
A steal at $25. Still has many years left. Just a gorgeous expression of Grenache. More French in style. Great right out of the bottle but really started to shine after a couple of hours. Wish I had a case! — 10 years ago
Dense, rich and extravagantly dark. Brooding cherries, rich leather, and woody spices lay on strong, but velvety tannins. Amazing now, but will be perfect in another 5 years. I'll need a lot of self control to wait that long. — 11 years ago
Celebrating in Brooklyn — 11 years ago
Intriguing experimental white wine. Spain in origin with Portuguese and Spanish winemaking partnership. Mineral, almond, white blossoms and apple skin notes. Fresh on the palate ans sherry like in flavor without the bitterness from the flor of a Fino sherry. Tasted great the second evening matching the profile with a little more depth and freshness. #niepoort — 13 years ago

Sangiovese made in a mid weight style that, perhaps because of the cool 2014 vintage, retains plenty of freshness. Less fruit, more floral. A pretty wine. — 8 years ago
