Les Chaignots Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2022

Back at our new favorite seafood restaurant and so very difficult to find the right red wine pairing (we were in the mood for some red….don’t judge us!)
Our new Sommelier BFF (Michael) steered us to this region and he was spot on! Light, fresh, red fruits…delicious 😋

Malgré le millésime souvent parfois plus mince, une superbe bouteille de Rousseau, magnifique. 93-94

Gorgeous Ruchottes from Rousseau.

Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1980

This may go down as red wine of the year for me. Which given the time of year and upcoming events is High Praise indeed. But none the less reality. Epic nose. The unmistakable smell of a slaughterhouse over summer. Meat and blood. A huge hit of licorice, leather, and smoke and cherries. The Finish lasted nearly a minute, and had a Mossy granite tone to it that reminded me of climbing in the gunks in the fog. Amazing. So fortunate to have been asked to share this with great friends. #poolwine — 8 years ago

Domaine Georges Roumier

Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2022

Medium dark rubi robe, nose of dark cherries, spices and a hit of cloves and flowers. Oh so good in the mouth, medium bodied, complex, flowery and with some vanilla from the barriques. Fantastic. Roumier has gotten better over the years. — 8 months ago

Musigny Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016

2016 vintage. Excellent fill and cork. Decanted with zero sed. Light/light-medium body. Tasted 45 minutes and 1.5 hours post-decant. All about the back-end white pepper/white sage/subtle clove spice rack finish. Excellent, lingering finish tickling different parts of the palate. More of a delicate Musigny. 08.01.25. — 10 months ago

Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2015

I will surely regret opening this young, luckily I have more bottles going into storage.

Fresh cherry, rose petals and nose of voilets with velvet smooth finish, but so much potential. We'll revisit the bottle tomorrow as assuredly it needs lots of air time to see a fuller experience at its current vintage stage.

That is very Young for Dujac. Still waiting on my 2006’s etc. Seems you can post, I cannot. It just goes to my activity page but not to the normal follow page. I must have done something wrong and you have been good.

@David T I don't know what was/is going on with @Delectable Wine tonight, it probably took 5-6 hours for that Dujac to post for me, so it's not just you. I'm sure your still a good boy, heck you were the No. 1 featured guy, AG should give you some special posting privilege. 😇
And yes, I do wish this was at least 9-10 years older, but sometimes I have to drink for science, it's a tough job.

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1996

1996 Domaine Armand Rousseau Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

Clos de la Roche, situated in Morey-Saint-Denis, is the most renowned and the largest Grand Cru vineyard of the village. Its terroir is consequently exceptional, yielding wines with striking acidity, remarkable concentration, and a structure that is powerful yet displays extraordinarily refined tannins. It is often considered one of Burgundy's most compelling wines, masterfully combining power with elegance.

The style neither mirrors the robust, muscular, and overtly powerful character typical of its northern neighbour, Gevrey-Chambertin, nor does it precisely replicate the extreme perfume, elegance, and delicacy that define its southern neighbour, Chambolle-Musigny. Instead, Clos de la Roche is the quintessential synthesis of strength and finesse—boasting a solid backbone alongside intricate depth of aroma and texture. Thanks to its pronounced acidity, one should not open a bottle without allowing for at least 15 years of ageing.

Upon opening, after 30 minutes the nose offered aromas of ripe black cherry, wild strawberry, sour plum, rose, and violet. After an hour, further notes of truffle, forest floor, leather, and spice developed. However, the minerality I expected remained elusive.

The bottle's condition was unfortunately not optimal. It lacked the sustained aromatic evolution and explosive bouquet I had anticipated. This fatigue and muted character were likely a result of its shipment from the United States.

Domaine Méo-Camuzet

Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir

We drunk three Vougeot over the last two days. A 2014 chateau de la tour, a 2009 le moine and now a 2008! Meo Camuzet.. it only shows how tricky this cuvée is. Too big, too uneven, too many producers, always expensive. This is right in the middle, same fruit as the 2014, same roundness as the 2009. This is an outstanding Vougeot, fresh, fwd fruit and great complexity. — 7 years ago
