Very solid. Light in body but bigger flavor profile — 7 years ago
Lovely, buttery Chardonnay. brought this wine to a lunch with friends and everyone enjoyed it. I am off to the store to buy several more. — 7 years ago
A show of force for basic Chablis and a preview of the craziness that is the wines made from better terroir. Incredible weight concentration and force. A bit of a baby Hercules at present. My guess is that it will calm down in a year or two. Amazing producer. Bought from Fass selections. 30 minutes later. ... the immense fruit acidity and minerality integrate. Wow. Insane. Maybe the best basic Chablis. One of the best entry level whites in burgundy. These wines need time or a big Decant. Hercules in a bottle. He needs time to stretch after being let out. — 8 years ago
Super refreshing, electric acid, perfect compliment to dumplings with a little ginger spice, very enjoyable. — 9 years ago
Dusty minerality with a prickly palate. Very good wine. — 9 years ago
Pale onion-peel pink. Delicately fruity and floral aromas of jasmine, honyesuckle, redcurrant, gooseberry and minerals. Bright and crisp, this is a paragon of balance and delicacy. Lovely stuff. 100% Nerello Mascalese. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, June 2018) — 7 years ago

Air out a bit but balanced and yummy. — 8 years ago
Almost like a completely different wine. I had to double check the vintage to make sure I was drinking the same wine as I did a few months ago. A ripe cordial like concentration still that had it reminding me of its port-like character, especially in texture. The dried fig, sultana and sticky date element is still there but wrapped in an abundance of fresh raspberry and black cherries. The finish is pretty insane on this, certainly the type of wine you have to be in the mood for — 9 years ago
I have had a Chardonnay from Paragon Vineyard before, and this reminds me of it, quite a lot. It’s a SIP certified sustainable growing site and winemaker Christian Roguenant gets a nice full mouthfeel from the lees and the oak.
The straw-colored wine shows quite a bit of minerality on the nose, to be expected from Edna Valley grapes. The wet rocks and lime aromas are always a pleasure, as the are here. On the palate, there are tropical tones and plenty of citrus along with the beautiful oak effect - the wood is used in a very tasteful way. I vacillate between liking oaky Chardonnays and those with none. This one hits in the middle of the range and could be my favorite - for a while, anyway. — 9 years ago
Strong like bull. Hercules. What. Jesus. — 10 years ago
Favorite wine from my tasting in Cote-de-Nuits. Smokey nose with substantial fruit. Full bodied mouthful yet strong acid structure. This finish is everlasting. This will be an amazing wine in 5+ years. A paragon of Chardonnay. — 7 years ago
Founded in 1980, Winery is a partnership between Chalone Wine Group and Paragon Vineyard, defining the Central Coast appellation for which it is named. Aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and subtle spice. On the palate melon and peach flavors with citrus zest, vivid acidity, nicely balanced on medium finish. Good value. Nice yummy affordable Italian red! Lovely with a pear salad and paragon steak with arugula. — 9 years ago
Gorgeous deep color. Nose is all smoky minerals and nose-tingling acids. Lean and intense. Like Hercules squeezed juice out of the freaking rocks. Some nice dark berry fruit is swept along on a whitewater raft of minerals and acidity. A totally unique style. Looking forward to see how this is tomorrow. I suspect I might bump up the score.
NIGHT 2: Much friendlier. Nose shows a very perfumey violet component, along with more fruit. Softer, with more fruit to complement the minerality in the mouth. Bumping it from 8.8 to 9.0. Very very nice. — 9 years ago
