Nice pineapple, passionfruit and yellow florals on the nose. Meyer lemon, pineapple, apricots, stone fruit, yellow florals, creamy, touch waxy, nice acidity, round, minerality is soft-perfect, really big nice finish. Brilliant pale gold color. Savory and sweet aromas: pear, fennel, cut grass, crisp apple, lemongrass, quince. Generous palate entry but quite delicate, round and mellow. Tangerine, lemon and almond. Progression along the palate, subtle richness but always pinpoint acidity. Truffle and hazelnut finish. Drink now to 2016.
Heintz vineyard. Whole cluster pressed and barrel fermented with native yeast. Complete malolactic fermentation and 15 months aging in 40% new French oak. No filtration at bottling. Released November 2012. — 11 years ago
This is too good not to have the correct designation. It is the Salinia Wine Company Wellspring Chardonnay Solera out of Sonoma (I think Wellspring Cellars is in Texas). As far as I know, this is a five vintage Solera blend of Chardonnay from Heintz Vineyard near Occidental. Dark gold, nutty sherry notes with great acidity. Love this. — 8 years ago

Cut grass, chamomile, grapefruit, lemongrass and sea spray. Typical Heintz vineyard herbal elements: sage, hay, green olive. Mineral-dominated palate. Fresh and saline with vitality and drive. Peach, nectarine and tangerine with sweet spearmint notes. Broad and generous, long and layered with a pleasing bitterness to the finish. Drink 2015 to 2020.
