The nose is so inviting with warm spice, cigar smoke, embers, and toast. Raspberry syrup, plums, vanilla, and toffee on the palate. Nice thread of smoke throughout with nice balancing fresh fruit. What an enjoyable wine! 20 months in new oak - obviously the more accessible style the new owners are going for... the Pinot the other night gave an experience, this one tells a story. — 9 years ago

This is a red port that is more on the sweet desert end than the alcohol tartiness of the portugal port. Very good. The chicks will dig this when I buy it and you can only buy in the store. Red desert wine but NOT liquid sugar. More respectable. Chicks will wnjoy. — 10 years ago

Pulled this out of the cellar as a three year throwback to our trip to Sonoma at March Break 2012. Color upon pouring was a deep ruby verging on purple. The cork had crystals developing. First nose and taste to come. It's breathing as we speak. The nose is quite soft, the fruits are balanced and the tannins are mellow. Finish is medium and quite pleasant. Per the winemaker, this vintage is a mix of Barbera, Zinfandel, Merlot and Syrah. Quite tasty! — 11 years ago

This 2013 white Pinot fits in exceptionally with the style of wine heart & hands is becoming known for. The wine is smooth, has a full mouth feel and at the same time commands the drinker's attention. Interesting color. The finger lakes have other great options outside of Riesling. As if the Eagle swooped down and knocked you over to grab the bottle from your hands. Dark Black/Purple in color. Smokey, brooding, intense. Tobacco, coffee, A definite Food Wine. Not to be taken lightly or sipped on its own. A powerhouse that would benefit from many, many more years in the cellar. Exciting & dangerous like an Eagle... Not for the timid of heart. 2004 Pegau. Always great. My favorite wine. Give me a vertical of Pegau on a desert island and I am happy. The family preferred the Cab so I enjoyed almost all of this delicious 04. Fighting with my waiter for the last pour in the bottle. Not the greatest vintage but so well balanced and intergrated flavors tonight. The seaweed/barnyard nose was just perfect with my steak at 910. — 11 years ago
