Silky and smooth attack. Coating the whole palate, tannins are more subtle and fine than the marquis de calon. This is an elegant wine and for the vintage and appellation, it's a winner. I prefer this to the Montrose!

"I make wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is at Calon"... I can see why Nicolas Alexandre Marquis de Segur said these iconic words after having this wine in my glass. The nose is so inviting with warm spice, cigar smoke, embers, and toast. Raspberry syrup, plums, vanilla, and toffee on the palate. Nice thread of smoke throughout with nice balancing fresh fruit. What an enjoyable wine! 20 months in new oak - obviously the more accessible style the new owners are going for... the Pinot the other night gave an experience, this one tells a story.

Coulda used a 24hr decant but who's counting? Baby killing of course but when this baby sheds it fat, look out. Meanwhile I could sniff this all day. Gorgeous.

2013 vintage, from the St. Estephe region of France. Great wine! Young wine but Really well balanced. Great acid, bright red fruit. Smooth. Could age for years.

Restrained...dare i say efeminate. I know its young but who's got at least 8 years to stand around at 52 degrees these days? Anyways...very nice, but this is the decaf of bordeaux. Yet great balance.
