1998 La Spinetta Gallina Barbera d'Alba. ELO at HB w J&H R and Leon. We were surprised by how much we liked it. Note to get more of this wine! Really well balanced- some fruit, leather, soil, and smoke. Not a super notable finish, but greatly enjoyed this. — 9 years ago

1968 Lopez de Heredia. HB w J&L B and J&J Koz. Wet cork broke apart, so we filtered and decanted. Still had fruit in it, though it was a bit thin in the finish. Went completely flat after abt an hour. — 6 years ago

Yellow gold. Viscous. Notes of citrus, white flowers, sliced lemon, dry dirt, crushed stone. Minerals. Silky fruit in the mouth, with a powerful backbone. Fine grained acidity. Coats the mouth. Was lucky to taste this out of barrel with HB on my first trip to the holy land. Nice to see it’s still powerful and fresh years later. Killer juice. I probably opened this bottle 5-10 years too early. — 7 years ago

Great Level but black cork. Looked in reasonable condition but a little muted and, although not faulty, it was a little unknit. Felt like a decent Pessac but without the fireworks you usually experience with HB; could sense the bonfire underneath but didn’t quite pop. — 7 years ago
