Distinctive grassy earthy haystack nose. Rustic Rhone? Aroma with hints of mints. Food friendly mouthfeel. Minerals. Good acidic balance. Medium finish that fades into hints of fruit acid. — 10 years ago

Raspberries, strawberry balsamic, barnyard, vitamins, haystack. Great acidity, light bodied, juicy silky texture, mineral finish. Mild smooth tannins, best served slightly chilled. Blend of pinot noir, poulsard, trousseau, savagnin, chardonnay. Unique. — 10 years ago

Beautiful brick color with amber rim. Strawberry leather, black cherry pits, barnyard, haystack. Low acidity, strong velcro tannin grip, long herbal/clay finish. Old school non interventionist winemaking aged underground in qvevri. — 11 years ago
Translucent medium ruby red. Lighter bodied with red fruit, some cranberry, spice, and a little pine needle. 13.8 % ABV. Very good.

Absolutely fantastic. Light, airy, not too sweet. White wine perfection. — 8 years ago
From Haystack Rock Vineyard, perched 2,200 feet above sea level, within the heart of the Atlas Peak AVA. High altitude combined with poor, shallow soils creates vine stress, and in the case of this complex and alluring 2012 Malbec, yields firm tannins, high acidity and pronounced minerality on the finish. Black cherries, blackberries and plums lend fleshiness and weight, and I am particularly taken with the earthier tones that shine through—underbrush, mesquite and a dusting of ash. 14.5% ABV | Sample — 10 years ago
Unbelievably fresh and vibrant at 33 years. Black cherry, pine needle & cedar — 10 years ago
Little funk then baking spice, earth, tea, and pine needle. Savory and delicious. Good stuff for a WV wine. Day 3: This has added depth, really delicious. — 10 years ago
Medium garnet color, bright like Ruby gem, smells of white truffle, Matutake mushroom, damped earth, pine needle, and smoked meat, tannin is completely resolved at this point, extremely smooth and round, tastes of strawberry, pomegranate, and cranberry, initially pronounced acidity with a citrus note, faded away after 30 min in the decanter, still plenty of fruit left, a pleasure to drink, medium to long lingering finish with a savory aftertaste. Yummy! — 11 years ago
One of the best golden IPAs I've ever had. — 11 years ago
Pine needle, lavender, vibrant Pinot fruit. Wonderful weight & texture. — 11 years ago

Roses, haystack, Hawaiian rolls — 9 years ago
Reviewed upon opening. Structured and firm still, yet a tad hot on the nose and palette with kirsch and anise flavors. Nice complements of herbal tea, mushroom, pine needle, underbrush with a charming balance with will likely take over with a little air time on the bottle. In a good place yet could go another 2-3 years nicely. Wonderful wine — 10 years ago
Blackberry compote, lingonberry, figs, white peppercorns, barnyard, haystack, graphite, balsamic, smoke. Beautiful finesse on rounded acidity/balanced by rustic dusty velvet tannin grip, medium bodied, silky texture, long smoky/peppery finish. Biodynamic blend of primarily Niellucciu, Syrah, Sciaccarellu. Successfully managed to be refined yet maintains its rusticity. Was a bit tight when tasted a year ago, drinking perfect right now. — 10 years ago
Absolutely delicious wine - dark fruit flavors and super smooth — 10 years ago
Moves the needle on life up a few ticks. Fantastic. Get some and drink it. — 10 years ago
1937 Lafaurie-Peyraguey: seventy-eight years had nothing on this still-fresh show-stopper. Lucid amber color, tangy marmalade-tinged flavor, medium-weight that is not tiring to drink at all. Threads the needle with perfect balance of honeyed intensity and bright acidity. One of the best #Sauternes ever to grace these lips. The perfect #wine when the wolves of life are howling outside your door. — 11 years ago
