High altitude combined with poor, shallow soils creates vine stress, and in the case of this complex and alluring 2012 Malbec, yields firm tannins, high acidity and pronounced minerality on the finish. Black cherries, blackberries and plums lend fleshiness and weight, and I am particularly taken with the earthier tones that shine through—underbrush, mesquite and a dusting of ash. 14.5% ABV | Sample
