First time I have had anything from Haywire. Small.production facility well hidden off the main hwy in Summerland. Interesting facility with the philosophy of letting the fermentation and the wine speaks for itself. No oak used in their cellars but concrete barrels and clay. Juicy, aromatic..unlike most pinots I have had. Worth a try and dog friendly🐶😄 — 7 years ago

Great choice of Shiraz to slow cook lamb shanks in. Took them to the next level. — 10 years ago
60% Tannat
30% Cab Sauv
10% Syrah
A great, great amount of patience in the decanter is rewarded with a nose of sweet lavender and distant hints of fruit and dust. Soft, lush fruit in the mouth leads to the slightest little hint of spice in an otherwise smooth finish. A great bottle for sure. I love the fact that I've still got another one in the cellar to "forget" about for a few more years. — 10 years ago
What a wild wine. Wet dog on the nose that blew off pretty quick. Certainly oxidative. Mostly Garnacha with Tempranillo and Mazuelo. Red fruit accompanied with high acid. One of a kind. — 6 years ago
Cigars and ripe red cherries on the nose. Red apples from the Wizard of Oz trees and smoked bing cherry on the palate. Click your heels, Toto. We’re not in Kansas anymore. Grab your broomstick and take flight with this delightful berry manifestation. Or take shelter. This berry hurricane is headed straight for your mouth. — 7 years ago
Dusty nose. First sip runs fruity but with a bold chop of earth. Draw shows textures of ripe tree fruit with some wood. This is full flavor with an elegance to it. Highly recommend. — 8 years ago
My dogs name is Harlan because of Bill and Will. Thank you. And get a Bernese Mtn Dog for your next label. Ha!!! 2011 in Dec 2016 will kick butt for years to come. — 9 years ago

Absolutely love this blend, the bit of Port makes it uniquely sweet. Fantastic. Blend #6 — 10 years ago
Out of the 4 wines opened at The Bird, this one edged out the Numanthia 12 by a hair. Quite similar profiles IMO. This Walla Walla Syrah was quite enjoyable with dark black fruit on the front. Consistent with the 2015 I tasted a bit ago but IMO, this one had a bit more of a smoked beef flavor in the middle that the dark sweet and still youthful fruit gave way. Chose this as the "food" wine since most chose the Bird Burger (a grass fed beef burger)....it went rather well. Popular with the crowd of novices and winos, the smoky finish was very complementary. Maybe I might acquire a few of these WA Syrahs afterall to have for these purposes....(not a word, @Shay A .... 😆) — 7 years ago

Very sweet, has notes of honey and berries. — 8 years ago
This a really nice wine! I drink each vintage and it's fairly consistent. I paired this Vermentino with an angel hair pasta, bathed in an infused truffle cream and mushroom sauce. All of a sudden my humble California abode felt like I was in Sardinia, Italia! Wine can do that! Isn't that why we love it? BEST with food, warm weather and friendships. Waxing poetic is easy after a few glasses of this beauty. And it's a value play! — 9 years ago
A true piece of work from Russell. Very aromatic, deep cheery, a little bit of coffee bean. Well rounded and great! — 9 years ago
Strong finish, good overall wine — 10 years ago
