Very rich, needs to breathe a bit — 7 years ago
Really fantastic wine! Amazing bouquet of almost ripe red fruit, bright acidity with a delicate, but unmistakable tannin structure. Medium body and delicious. — 7 years ago
The 2013 Bodega Classica Lopez de Haro Reserva is medium dark in the glass. The nose is aromatic with violets, cigars, ripe plums and earth. On the palate, we find big, dark fruit, oak spice and a meaty black olive note. Tannins are firm and the acidity is lively, so it's great to sip as well as have it with some steak. — 8 years ago

I got paired up with a Mezcal Wizzard in Cancun, this was one of her top picks - clear, measured smoke, light citrus, dried herb ... soulful. Tall glass with soda and wedge is the perfect drink for Clemson v Wake Forest for the ACC title. #GoTigers #BestMezcal — 10 years ago

Dark brick color. Supple, full, and delicious. Leather, earthy, a little woody, cocoa, plum skin, currants, a little inky. Needed several hours to breathe. From Eataly wine shop. — 11 years ago

Light medium body, very nice — 7 years ago
Deep and dark ruby garnet. Abundant nose of black cherry and pipe tobacco. Echoed on the palate with a stony mid-palate and a cigar box finish. Velvety tannins coat the mouth from entry to the medium long finish. Toro is probably best known (to those who know it) through really high-end wines that cost more and are less well-known than their fellow Tempranillo-based brothers from Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Darker and fuller than either, Toro at more moderate price points (like this one) let the wineaux experience Spain (and Tempranillo) at a higher level without breaking the proverbial bank. A great alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon (New or Old World) that’s ready for steaks, roasts, root vegetables, hearty casseroles, or any other “deep red” meal. Drink now through 2025. — 7 years ago
Very smooth. Little peppery. — 7 years ago
@Delectable Wine this is the Aperture Cellars Del Rio Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
Brand new release (3/6) and inaugural bottling from Aperture Cellars and Jesse Katz.
Super dark purple in appearance. A bit of iron on the nose with notes of black berries, cigar box and baking spices. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Rich and voluptuous palate with baking spices, blueberries, cassis, anise and crushed gravel. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2036. (94+)
First time trying these Single Vineyard Cabernets by Jesse Katz and boy were we in for a treat. This is the inaugural bottling of their Del Rio Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon which is made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. If aged like the Oliver Ranch Vineyard then it is aged for 20 months in 70% new French oak barrels. This will only improve with age.
$$$ - Sample provided by the winery. Release price is $95.00.
