The Madeira that had the lowest number on the label was the 1845 Solera from Cossart. The last top up was apparently 1953, so this really wasn't nearly as old on average as some of the others. Dark brown with copper edges. Soapy on the nose. Quite short but attractive orange peel and spices. It might not be the oldest of the bunch, but it is rather past it. — 8 years ago

Nice, not great - stumbled on this in a small out of the way wine store, owner had personal friendship w/Jeff Gordon. Present very dark ruby, semi-opaque w/Old World nose of dusty cherry & rhubarb, musty, earthy, forest floor, some red berried fruit & currants, med bodied, smooth - believe this lost considerable weight over the years, more elegantly styled than sturdy & robust like many Napa cabs. Glad I got this on closeout pricing, pretty solid wine overall. — 4 years ago

Pretty boring label guys. Farmer designed label. Lovely deep rose petal color. Smells of red-black berries, petrichor, and nice flower soap. Flavor is explosive classic Merlot. Granite, blackberries, cherries and bittering herbs. Streak of licorice and liquor. This would go with red meats like nobodies business. — 6 years ago
