2022/5/13 with zukedon, etc. From a half-bottle, bought on release. Bright yellow-gold. On the nose this has developed that honeyed note which only comes from cold northern Chardonnay with some age. There’s also steel and stone. The palate is very intense - it starts with more honey and perhaps some candied citrus peel, but more chalk and steel quickly take prominence. This is a powerfully mineral, dry, salty, alkaline wine - like most 2006s from all over Burgundy, the acidity feels on the low side (though it’s there at the edges of the mouth), and this isn’t about fruit either (with the main fruit note from the mid palate onwards being bitter citrus oils). Great color in the decanter... medium gold with an enticing perfume. Notes of sweet Meyer lemon, apricot, gravel stone, tan clay, some mint, a little ginger and some sweet marzipan. Has an exotic and slightly musty (desirable) funk. Huge weight with great fruit and solid acidity in the mouth. Decanted for 2 hours before drinking. Awesome juice! This is 16 despite the label. Awesome nose. Big cherry fruit, some sweet oak, mint, soil tones, and just an amalgam of intense fruit. Really elegant and juicy with lithe silky tannins and such purity. Terrific structure and top notch finesse. Amazing purity and elegance. Long finish and very chewy. I think needs 3-4 years and/or a 3 hour decant. Terrific focus and freshness. Stunning balance. Awesome. Lovely stuff. — 6 years ago

Tight and solid in the mouth, despite 2 hours of air in a decanter. Has a great minerality in its delivery. Good structure and acidity. Super duper dark and legs for days. Opaque, eggplant-y red and smells like vibrant dark fruit. Currant, cherry, vanilla, spice and oak. Starts mellow and fruit heavy and then ends in a spicy, tannic feel that's not quite rounded but very, very good. — 4 years ago

Nice regal gold hue. Amazing pit fruit and wet stone nose. Plus notes of apricot, white clay soil, salty ocean breeze and some Raveneau honey on the finish. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Coats the palate with lots of fruit and fine grained acidity. I’ve had this a few times and this was at its best. Great Raveneau at age 30 is an amazing treat. — 5 years ago

Oh my, what an absolute joy. This right here sings the song I want to hear. A pale old gold color in the glass. Perfectly precise perlage with a plethora of tiny, fine bubbles and showcasing innate creaminess. The nose is slightly intense opening with aromas of hazelnut, chalk, and lemon zest. Warm buttered brioche takes over for a moment full of bliss then a bit of smoke. Juicy peaches and pears commingle with fresh herbs and spices.
100% Chardonnay from the five Grand Cru villages of Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, and Mesnil-sur-Oger. The tête de cuvée of Champagne Taittinger and it shows. It’s a very noble, prestigious champagne that matches complexity with downright deliciousness. The juxtaposition between luxury and comfort is evident here. Like coming out of a bath and slipping on your finest robe. The racy acidity and exquisitely dry nature of the wine belies the dosage of 9 g/l.
Very creamy in the mouth and though it starts off a bit demanding, it soon becomes so inviting after some time. Every sip demands the proper time and contemplation. Chalky and rich, positively bursting with citrus fruits. Apples and toast everywhere along with gun flint and more smoke. Medium long finish with traces of spice. A powerful, graceful champagne that’s full of finesse. This can go for decades longer but if you open it now sit with it for a while. Give it the proper time. Deep gold to amber color. Beautiful clearly defined nose of green apple, hint of almond powder marzipan and buttered toast. Medium body with high acidity. Leads to an ultra long finish with mouthwatering fresh acidity. Really awesome stuff. Out of Magnum. — 4 years ago
Light gold. Looks young. Took 5 hours to open up and show its stuff. In hour 6 this was cruising. Saline and sea shells, wispy lemon fruit, some honey, some white stone. The guesses from the fellas were 2002 Rav Clos and 1996 Rav Valmur. Shows how these properly stored aged Raveneaus can age effortlessly. — 5 years ago

Tour d’Argent. Surprisingly young color, light gold. At first it’s soft and delicate. With air it shows notes of citrus, tan spice, white clay, minerals and some cardamom. Starts with great fruit and has structure and acidity that builds with air. There’s a sweetness that stays with it over 3 hours. Great wine. — 6 years ago

Nice crisp nose with limes and brioche.
Light to medium in body with medium plus acidity and small bubbles.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing citrus, yeast, minerals, bread, green apples, herbs, earth, lemon juice and white pepper.
Long finish, tasty and elegant.
This 16 year old still feels very young, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Rich and well balanced.
I love this vintage of Dom Perignon. Complex and interesting. I've had this vintage it a few times before, and it is very consistent.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. Good stuff.
