One of my favorite reistlings! Smooth and not too sweet, when I open a bottle I tend to drink the whole bottle! — 5 years ago
👁 This wine is deep ruby. It has slow-moving tears.

Aromas include primary notes of ripe blackberry, black cherry, black cassis, plum, violet, black licorice, clove, anise, and white pepper, secondary notes of cedar, nutmeg, and toast, and tertiary notes of earth, leather, and sweet tobacco.

This wine is outstanding and may be consumed now but has potential for aging and further aging!

14 year old gran reserva paired with grilled lamb chops and manchego salad. Full body, decanted, improved over time, dry, berries, oak, vanilla spice, peppercorn. Long finish, probably worth storing for several years. $38 13.5% abv. — 6 years ago
Dégorgée le 14 janvier 2015. Great champs. Ripe yet fruity n mineral. Apricot n lime. Long. — 7 years ago
Oreno, takes its name from the river crossing the estate where the farmhouse is found. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 mos in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Big ripe berry fruit aromas with sweet spice notes. On the palate rich blackberry & cherry flavors with cacao, tobacco, oak & flinty tones. Firm big tannins needing time showing great aging potential, lingering ending with succulent earthy mineral character. ‘15 much better. Tasting Sample! — 7 years ago
2nd day on this one👍🏼
A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, the fruit for the 2019 The Bard fetches from Calistoga to Coombsville, including portions from illustrious vineyards such as Dr. Crane, Moonracer, Houyi and Larkmead. — 4 years ago

Not too sweet, nice slightly dry finish. — 6 years ago
Cheval des Andes tasting with their technical manager who is also an assistant winemaker. Tasted ‘05, ‘07, ‘14 and ‘15. Very cool story behind this winery (and its affiliation with Chateau Cheval Blanc).
This contained the largest percentage of Malbec they’ve ever used at 83%, rounded out by petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Decidedly darker and more dense on the mid palate than the ‘15. The texture was more plush and this seems to be open for business now...not sure it has the structure to hold as long as the ‘15. More plum, added black currant and licorice. — 7 years ago
Umami beef jerky. Super smooth classic ‘14. Fruity but not heavy. Soft tannins. Dried concentrated fruit. Nice!! — 7 years ago
Nice taste, nice price! — 5 years ago
Zoom event with Drew Bledsoe and Josh McDaniels. Vertical from ‘07, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘17 estate, and ‘18. All were exceptionally smooth and silky with good depth of fruit. Notes on the ‘18: 90% CS, 5% Malbec, 5% Merlot. Least favorite of the night. Still a good wine but perhaps a bit too young, or just different enough from the others that I liked ones with a bit more age. This wine had a little more density than the others and perhaps a little more earth and graphite coming through that masked the fruit. It still had the classic doubleback elegance of the others but I felt we were not seeing this wine’s true expression. It only had about 1 hour in the glass and perhaps I need to pull another bottle, decant for a few hours and see what it does. — 5 years ago

We had the 2007 Vintage on 6/14/20. A bouquet of dark fruit and mocha. Blackberry, black cherry, mocha and the Rutherford dust on the palate. A smooth finish to a full bodied, New World wine. Still great despite a dried cork. — 6 years ago
Full Strawberry nose with white pepper. Taste juicy red berry front settles down to a wash blueberry. Then at back of mouth intensity starts with flavour of roasted red peppers done over oak coals and finish cleanse of eucalyptus.🍷 — 7 years ago
What a nice, more modern approach to 100% Tempranillo in Ribero del Duero. Clean, medium intensity red and black berries, forrest floor, floral (violet and rose). Less fruit on the palate, starts fresh then opens to more herby components (dried to tobacco, licorice root), slight cocoa. Medium acidity, round country textured tannins that slide down nicely. 30% American , 70% French oak., A more robust expression of this grape. — 7 years ago

Not quite as mature as the 2012. The 14 was solid and nice but the aromatics were lacking. Needed more time. — 4 years ago
