Loaded with fruit mostly cherry, nice bouquet with a lingering finish. — 8 years ago
This wine needed about 3 hours to release. Initially tight with uncomfortable medicinal nose which then totally dissipated. Drinking now next day and you get the age of fully integrated but not fading tannins. Nose has a delightful dark fruit and smokiness. Great fit of nose and taste, meaning - when tastes after smelling the experience is consistent and not jolting. I think the color purple in a subdued way. Very nice. Memo to self: decant and watch for sediment, and enjoy three hours later. — 8 years ago
First Chave. First red of the night. So dusty and intriguing. Not sure it came alive fully. Will see how the remainder drinks today — 11 years ago
It is highly challenging not to be drawn to the intense golden hue of this brilliant cold vintage Chardonnay. Needing an hour in the decanter to fully evolve, this stunning wine opens with an intense bouquet of roasted pineapple, apricot and Pazazz apple with wild mushroom undertones that all shine brightly in the glass. The soft and downright silky mouthfeel impresses as this gracefully glides across the mid-palate. Bright honeydew melon, pineapple upside down cake, vanilla cream and damp earth tones round out the palate. The combination of weight and tension in the glass is really thrilling. While gorgeous at the eight year mark, this beautiful wine still has a decade or more ahead of it. Drink 2019-2031- 95 — 6 years ago
I just love piedmont and this barbaresco was great. Let it breath for 2 hours to fully appreciate it. — 8 years ago
Birth year wine. Fully mature. Nice notes of black tea and leather. Drinking well but probably not getting better. — 8 years ago
The wine shows a nice evolution with an orange rim in the glas. The cork was fully soaked. The nose is discreet. Strawberry jam and some wet earth scents. The palate is not ample. The tannins are now fully integrated. A nice acidic touch makes it interesting with a slight saltiness and strawberry jam again. Not great, a bit discreet but a nice lovable wine considering the vintage. — 8 years ago
Much better than the last bottle I opened. This #chateaulascombes was fully mature and had a taste of metal. For the first 20 minutes the complexity was high and there were some delicious notes. After that it fell hard and became insipid and funky. #bordeaux #margaux #france #1937 #ctbucklinwine — 9 years ago
Opaque in color and chock-full of deep red fruits and berries with a touch of tar and cedar spice. Fully intergraded wine and so pleasurable to drink. I get their Zin and Cab from the winery ever year and have been doing so for 15 or so years. I drink them chronologically no matter what the vintage charts say and these wine never fail to please. — 9 years ago
Tasted blind. Tawny color, translucent with amber rims. Notes of black cherry, cedar, some spice and a little barnyard floor. Sweet fruit in the mouth, with tannins fully resolved. Guessed 1955 Calon Segur. Perfect looking bottle, the cork revealed this bottle was reconditioned by the Chateau in 2000. — 6 years ago
Incredibly youthful. Lots of dark brambly fruit, plum, some leather. Fully resolved, moderately long finish, great balance. 25 years young! — 7 years ago
Fully mature and delicious. Very Burgundian — 8 years ago
Deep garnet red with ruby core. Tasted blind. Very tight and dark on the nose with dark cocoa, dark spices and soft dark berries. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Very dark palate as well with black cherries, cassis, black currants, dark cocoa and a little woody. Long and lingering finish. Thought this was a bit older than a 2013 but powerful, needs some time to fully develop. Drink till 2032. (93+) — 8 years ago
Loaded with dense and dark fruit, graphite and tannins. Let this rest for a least 4 years. It has great potential — 9 years ago
