Super cheap, great bottle for before dinner — 6 years ago
The 2015 Barolo Gramolere is powerful and dense in the glass, with a good bit of richness but also less of the tension that is such a signature for wines from this site in Monforte. Cedar, sweet tobacco, pine, mint, dried cherry, licorice and dried flowers develop with air, adding attractive layers of complexity. Overall, the 2015 looks like it will drink well relatively early. Another wine that Otto likes. — 6 years ago
Nose: closed. As it opens wild mint and menthol. Elegant herbals.
Palate: lovely pink roses. Sweet cherries. Elegant. Lean. Geeky. Juicy. Menthol. — 7 months ago
Reddish in color.
Fruity nose and medium in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with red currants, fresh cherries, light oak, herbs, light earth, spices, chocolates and peppercorn.
Medium finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This 6 year old feels very young at the moment. Fruity with mild complexity. Soft and smooth. Elegant with good structure.
Needs time to open up properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Dizzying aroma of lavender, mint, fresh rose petals and earthy clay. Immediately on the palate a rush of fresh, vibrant raspberry. The mid palate opens to herbal softness stricken with a laser-sharp acidity that balances beautifully. A lingering and pleasant tannic structure leaves you begging for another sip. — 5 years ago
Very engaging, full bodied. Robust but not overpowering in any area. Great flavors. Much less exciting the second day I tasted. — 7 years ago

I sold Barolos and Barbarescos from this winery with the first importer I worked for back in the early 80s. It’s been in the decanter about an hour, and though the lightish color shows maturity, some fruit is emerging g to join with the intense mahogany furniture/old library scents. Incense too, along with faded rose petals. Very classic. In the mouth, it’s powerful and somewhat austere. Not a fruity wine. Still a fair amount of tannin present. The austerity and power will pair nicely with the braised oxtails (coda alla vaccinara) that are almost ready. — 6 months ago
