We all have that experience that we would love to undergo again, sans the memory, afresh: my first taste of peaty Scotch; the magnificent atmosphere of a Souls game; one’s first orgasm with a loved one; or, encountering a truly great, mature, Burgundy. Wipe the slate clean, let us start again; I’m sure that’s how we all clamor. But all that’s left is to forge on, in search of higher highs and the brighter lights. Nose: starts off tight, with dried, tart raspberries and strawberries, opens up to earth, oak, vanilla later, without overwhelming the fruit. Even a bit of perfumed peaches. Palate: layered light plums, juicy mid-ripe strawberries, gentle and super-silky tannins, extremely luscious mouthfeel. Finish: long, notes of stewed tea, recurrent umami and minerals. Puts the LONG in prolonged. Oh my. Oh. — 8 years ago

Very interesting and fun vintage Barbaresco! Notes of barbecued pork, campfire, charcoal, steel forge. Tannins have smoothed but still there and acidity is high, alcohol present but nicely integrated. — 10 years ago
