From the recently revived viticultural area of Faro in the north eastern tip of Sicily near Messina and not far from Mt Etna. Light to mid crimson in colour. Earthy savoury mineral notes with smoky red cherry. Light to medium bodied palate with a skinnsy note. A blend of the 2 Nerellos of Etna fame plus Nocera and Nero d’Avola - Sicily in a bottle! Not as wow as when I had it in Sicily but still impressive. — 7 years ago

I helped to make this wine withe Melissa Moravec & Francis Mahoney. The Wine Spectator gave this wine 92 points in 1988. Still 92 points as far as I am concerned. Middle of pack of the six 1986 PN. Not my last bottle. YEAH!!!! — 9 years ago
Adventure #1 in wine from Aldi! Pleased so far. Oaky and buttery. Smooth — 9 years ago
This is by far my favorite Pinot noir I have come across in the last few years. It has an incredibly smooth and well balanced flavor. — 9 years ago
Brilliant ruby in the glass with thin edges. An absolutely stunning nose of bright red fruits, cherry cola, a dash of cinnamon, fresh herbs, and just the faintest hint of funk. I really don’t want to stop smelling this sexy thing but I should taste it. Even though I mention that funk, this is definitely far more on the elegant and sensual side of Pinot. On the palate there’s plenty to love. Lush fruit is complimented by just the right amount of spice and mild oak. Dark chocolate and herbs take you right on to the long finish of dark berries. Simply an outstanding Pinot Noir and one I want more of. — 6 years ago

I so rarely encounter a great Gewürztraminer from outside Alsace, and when I do, it’s most likely from the Anderson Valley. This Phillips Hill bottling is no exception. Striking in its aromatic intensity - dried ginger, rose water, thyme, pine sap, crushed stones, and white pepper - the wine is vinified nearly bone dry, resulting in a taut, lean structure that moves with spritely dynamism. The floral and spice tones meet fruitier flavors on the palate - white peach and lemon soda. A far cry from the California Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs that dominate the Golden State’s white wine scene. — 7 years ago
It's a dark wine, dark in color, dark in aromas and dark in flavors. The nose offers abundant blackberry and black raspberry notes with an earthy base. There is an element of smoke at the top of the glass. The palate is deep and rich, dark fruit joined with a sense of black olives and tea. It leans toward savory, but not without taking the fruit with it. The wine finishes with a little raspberry tartness and a lot of berries that stay for a medium length. It's not too much of a bruiser as far as Pinot goes, rather elegant. Let your kitchen staff know you’d like a grilled pork chop for dinner. — 9 years ago
This is one of three dark wines that we are exploring today. Artezin Zinfandel from California. It is by far the best zin I have ever had. I do love it but I cant give it more than 9.0 due to the bouquet. Im not sure what it is, but there are notes of fresh prune juice with asparagus being steamed in the kitchen. After a 30 minute decant it is much better with soft aromas of rhubarb pie baking in the oven. On the beginning palate, there is amazing spice and pepper. It is followed by blackberry and raspberry. There is smoke and earth tones as well. This my favorite Zin so far!!! The other two wines in this tasting are Alta Luna pinot noir and Wines of Substance cabernet. — 9 years ago

Bartlett Pear eau de vie. (Lot PB-08)
This will be my initial experience with this bottle after passing it in my local shop numerous times and pondering the eventual purchase.
Ok... Just like everything else made under the roof at St. George's, this is crazy juice, nose is intense peeled pear skin and the palate has the truest expression of pear I've ever known. All this is distinctly Bartlett Pear, no question. Wow, perfect close to the evening. — 8 years ago

Far and away the best rose! — 9 years ago
Pristine condition. Recent vinfolio purchase for a great price. Not like any other pax ive had. Maybe time finally rewarding this bottle. No gritty tannins. Elegant and the most feminine pax Syrah I've had so far. Light. Balanced. Floral blue fruit. Silky. Really enjoyed this one. — 9 years ago
