Juan Gil Jiménez first built his winery in 1916 in Jumilla, and passed it down to his future generations. From 100% Certified Organic Monastrell (or Mourvèdre in France), in chalky, stony soils, aromas of dark berry fruits and woody spice. Aged 12 months in French oak, palate shows blackberry and plum with smoky wood flavors and notes of cacao and cinnamon spice. Soft ripe tannins, medium+ ending with a light toasty earthy character. Great value! Very nice! — a year ago

Medium ruby hue. Aromas and flavors of cassis, cherry, and plum. Plus acid, medium tannins, medium body. Relatively short finish, but otherwise enjoyable. Solid house wine. Blend of Grenache (65%), Syrah (30%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). — a month ago
Densely packed, delivering a dark fruit profile with mineral tones. Aeration brought some more flesh and spicecake aromas. Firm tannins. VA right at the limit. — 4 years ago

The one that started it all. Seems slightly pedestrian to me now. — a month ago
