Peppery nose, with floral and tobacco notes. The peppery Carmenere is most immediately noticeable on the palette, followed up serenely by luscious Malbec fruit. Succulent cherry and smoked meat notes fill the mouth and linger a very long time. Nice vanilla accent from the oak profile too adds a touch of sweetness that is particularly nice as it slides up beside the smoked meat character. Yum!! — 6 years ago

All the BDX varietals, including Carmenere, in one (Malbec and Carm dominant?). Wet stone, vanilla, and dried cherries on the nose. On the palette the vanilla is still very evident (mmmmm, luscious oak), but isn’t just stbding there twiddling its thumbs; black currant, plum, white pepper and a hint of rhubarb make for an interesting quaff. This medium yet bold, intriguingly simple yet complex wine is for the enthusiasts:
Plum as it lands followed by a mineral, dry rock initial taste. Then come the tannins, which linger along with dry berries and end with a tingle of black pepper. Es bueno para el corazon! Must try! — 6 years ago

F’ing A! Not that I have tasted every Carmenere produced in the USA, but if this isn’t in the top 5, I don’t know what is. Big as a cab, in flavor. White pepper, ripe plum, and blackberry notes dominate. Huge for this varietal, could easily age for several years. Yum! — 8 years ago
