stage left and so was left amid the floorboards staged, wood like la brea, angst and time, the echo snakes its way as shadows do, purpose and rhythm on the drywall — 7 years ago

Château d'Yquem

Y Ygrec Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2009

Very impressive. Even blind this was not that hard to pin down as Ygrec. Even though it's a dry wine with tons of sauv blanc grapefruit character there is an almost muscat-like echo of sweetness without actually being sweet that screams Sauternes, and none of the other dry Sauternes have the power and footprint of Yquem which is evident even here. Superb cleansing freshness despite its weight class. — 9 years ago

Ecker

Zweigelt

A nose reminiscent of Gamay, with cherry, ample spice, and a little bit of dank musky tang. Almost like balls. Spicy, mineral-laden cherry notes on the palate that echo the musky hints on the nose. Unique, light bodied and tasty. — 9 years ago

Château La Fleur-Pétrus

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

A textbook color of ruby red. Terroir driven for sure, the nose is a plume of earth and pure red fruits. The palate has a gentle femininity to it, beautifully elegant and classy. The tannins are smooth as silk, the finish a persistent echo of the terroir. — 9 years ago

Cave de Rasteau

Les Peyrières Rasteau Red Rhone Blend 2011

I picked this up from a Whole Foods when it was on sale, and did not expect too much from it... I let it sit for about an hour prior to drinking, and I really enjoyed it!

It's dry, but very flavorful.

Notes of cherry in a lingering echo of taste after I drink it...

I very pleasant surprise for something so cheap.

Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne Chardonnay

Olive pips, brioche, pomelo, tangerine pith and lemon custard nose with a circus peanut candy whiff. Briny lemon entry that eases into candied peel, olive notes echo the scents, and a hard race to a very lemon and caper fulfillment that shimmers with crystalline citrus nectars. Far from moribund, this one scores big where other '05s have given up the ghost! That's the spirit! #champagne bubbles #frenchsparklingwine — 7 years ago

Paradise Springs of Clifton

Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Paradise Springs a Local winery to me developed a well balanced Cabernet that could compete with any Napa Cabernet that I currently have in my wine cellar. Hitting all the necessary smokey tannins and with deep hints of tobaccos and rich flavors of blackberry. Hints of oak seep through the richness of the wine as the dryness of the Cabernet leave and echo of desire to drink more. Truly a wonderfully rich wine for such a local winery. A delectable red for an everyday drink of sorts. — 8 years ago

Pott Wines (Aaron & Claire Pott and Daughters)

Greer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

The high rating is not because I love Aaron Pott, it is not because we were eating at Echo and Rig in Vegas, it is not because the Somm here said it was fantastic when he tasted it... it was simply because it was awesome. Complex, balanced, smooth and lasting. Ready now.... hmmm... I wish I had tasting notes like Aaron. — 7 years ago

Enfield Wine Co.

Haynes Vineyard Syrah 2013

I'll echo the consensus - a lovely, elegant expression of Napa terroir in a Syrah. Vanilla notes give way to spiciness - fruit is at a balanced concentration with silky tannins. Vegetal tobacco notes from stems. Wish I bought more. John is an absolute rock star. 2012 vintage — 8 years ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2011

I love the Echo label made by Lynch, and this was a power house of a Bordeaux. Brick wall of tannin even 4 hours later and after 60, yes, 60 hours of decanting, the flavors being masked by high acidity and tannin of a young wine finally had their 15 seconds of fame. Dark rich flavors of creme-de-casis and blackberry tart, and gravelly minerality, with a toasty oak undertone and still finishing with a firm tannin but just more enjoyable than right out of the bottle. — 9 years ago

Tres Beautiful nose 👃👃👃
Caramel apple-banana brûlée top notes, pear and spice underneath, still-pert lemon zest and peach custard, too. Palate delivers that Cali-leonine body -ie big! - but with enough brisk acidity to keep things more than decent. Long, with flavors that echo the nose and all around beautiful balance. Drinking super well at moment, near its peak and rewarding this bit of bottle age with plenty of secondary characteristics. PLUS:: #winebling (yes, there are some tartrate crystals, folks - all just adding to the allure - game on!)
