I have several previous Delectable notes on this brilliant wine. As fellow Delectable taster Scott Rowe said of this wine “Epic”. Sadly my last of the 2015 vintage Tolpuddle Pinot Noir. There were too many things going for it not to be a success. :-
Coal River Tasmania; Shaw and Smith Winemaking team; 2015 vintage. There were spicy red cherries on the nose. A stalky whole bunch note. (50% whole bunch fermentation). See previous notes. Every year since has been a similar success. — 7 months ago
Our final lunch in Cairns last Sunday for the boys weekend away. A wonderful lunch at the Salt House on the Cairns waterfront. No formal notes. Pepik is the 2nd label of Josef Chromy from the East coast of Tasmania. Red fruits on nose and palate with a little white pepper. A good match with the superb seafood curry. — 4 years ago
At a Mendocino wedding stumbled on this tasting room a few years back. Brought this home and last night, well, WOW. More of a Grenache gestalt than Syrah after 90 minute decant, pure and layered red bright berry, some bay leaf. Wish I had another bottle to see how this ages. — 5 years ago

The 2022 Apsley Gorge Pinot Noir stands out as a smooth, Burgundy-style wine with exceptional balance. Among the best Pinot Noirs we’ve tasted in Tasmania, it offers impressive depth and elegance. — 7 months ago
Really impressive weight and balance. The high pitched red fruit and savoury tones provide freshness and balance the darker brooding savoury structure. — 10 months ago
One of my favorite sparkling rosé’s — 3 years ago
Tuesday the 26th of January was Australia Day and a public holiday. What better way to celebrate than Australia’s best fizz Arras Grand Vintage from Tasmania. Quite light lemon in colour. Very citrussy and mineral on the nose. 7 years on Lees showing in the complexity of the palate which still shows tension and refreshment. See previous notes for the 2007 which was slightly better and Champion Wine of the Royal Brisbane Show. — 4 years ago
On clearance?! Bahahahaha !!! These wines should never be on clearance. Easily some of the best expressions coming out of the extreme Northern California coastal area. Excellent! — 5 years ago
A delicious Tassie Pinot that makes an impression from the outset.
Balanced acidity with flavours of sour cherry and raspberry.
A touch of spice giving it a long finish full of complexity.
Close to perfection. — 5 years ago
Soft with good acidity and classic PN fruit. Delicious. Madame LeRoy are you tasting this one? — 6 years ago
Decent example, not much complexity. — 8 months ago
Assume that’s the vineyard in the inked drawing on the label. Fancy stuff at $48 per bottle…
Lovely deep red to purple color. Smells like musk, woods, campfire on your clothes. Maybe a cranberry or elderberry tone under it all. Interesting smell to it for sure. Flavors are also interesting. Old time tonics and herbal extractions. More elderberry stuff. Absinthe. Or is that Jegermister? The fruit is there too, but it’s under the savory and strange stuff. This is a wine to age. But it’s good now too if you are into the strange and earthy side of Syrah. A true terroir driven drinking experience. I can see the coast valleys of Mendo in the flavors. — 3 years ago
Stunning. New but not modern. Huge power, beautifully (fully) integrated wood on this pure Sauv Blanc. Insane length and delineation across the palate. Shockwave structure. — 5 years ago
Where am I? Somewhere in Quarantini. Who are you drinking with? My sweetie & listening to the Mamas & the Papas. All this is a metaphor for Molly Drew’s 2018 Morning Dew Pinot Noir. Lovely. Even before the pandemic. Much better now. Cheers! — 5 years ago
Covid Bottle 3. A little spicy. 2017 — 5 years ago
The flavors of this were a bit more toward leather and a nice mouthfeel. — 7 years ago
